Health Updates

Some of you know I had my first appointment with my cancer doctor today, so I’m sharing an update for everyone asking. I appreciate your kindness.

I don’t have to have chemo!

I’ll need a few radiation treatments and a hormone inhibitor pill daily for five years. I’ll see my cancer doctor every three months for a few years and then once a year if no cancer returns.

The first appointment with my radiologist hasn’t been scheduled yet, but that will be the next step.

Mr. Mickey is doing very well and will not need to see his doctor again for six months.

Outfit details include a years-old red blazer and Kate Spade bag from Dillard’s, plain black straight-leg slacks, and loafers. The white tank is too long, and the pants don’t have belt loops, so I added a belt over the tank to make the proportions appear better. TankPantsLoafers – Similar Items: BagBelt Blazer

  1. Answered prayers for sure! Wishing you and Mr. Mickey all the best. I love that you are back posting about fashion and your adventures with Mr. Mickey. I look forward to each new post. Take care!

    Cindy

  2. This is wonderful news, so happy reading your update and next steps moving forward. Red is a power color – great choice and I like the outfit you put together. Red is the color of energy, the symbol of life, evokes strength and confidence. You look dynamic!

  3. Such good news about your treatment! Sounds like you have the same treatment plan that I had. It will be five years for me March, 2024. The radiation is fairly easy but do follow the skin care instructions at the radiation site. God Bless

  4. That’s fantastic news! They caught it early. You look great in red. It’s my favorite color. Sending healing thoughts to both you and Mr. Mickey.

  5. That’s great news! I just want to add that I was inclined to skip my mammogram this year but, because of you, I had it done a few weeks ago and everything was fine. Thank you!

  6. thanks so much for the update — glad that you and Mr. Mickey are both doing well. may the good health and positive outlook continue!

  7. So glad you don’t have to have chemo! I hope the radiation treatments go well. Considering you have such a healthy lifestyle, I would think you have great odds of defeating this cancer. Wishing you the best.

  8. So so happy for you. You are the fourth woman I know who has had this diagnosis since last October all with different treatment options and all thriving! I live in Canada and some hospitals here have programs that register women to have a reminder every year to schedule their mammograms. A reminder to us all to keep this up. Good luck!

  9. So very pleased for you Susan. I am in the same position as you. Grade 3 cancer but found early, two ops to remove as the margin was tight the first time. Sample sent to America for Oncotype DX testing and like you, blessed to not need chemo. Started on my meds and appointments lined up for bone density scan and pre radiotherapy time but so very thankful and grateful with how things are.

Good luck to Mr Mickey and blessings to you both. xx

  10. Susan,
You look wonferful so glad you anf Mr. Mickey are doing well. If possible would you be able to provide tips for being camera ready when you ate atrending a Zoom call. I have white. short, very curly hair with fair skin and blue eyes. Unfortunately, my scalp and the top of my head is quite thin. I am 5 ‘2″ so I easily feel dwarfed. My office has off white walls. My office window faces west.

    Thank you,

    Kelly

  11. Oh, Susan! Praise God for answered prayers! I had tears well up in my eyes as I read today’s post. May God continue to richly bless both you and Mr. Mickey as you work toward healing.
    Warmly,
    Debbie Roberts

  12. Susan, that is truly wonderful news! Thank you for sharing it. I’ve been thinking of both of you and hoping for the best. You look beautiful.

  13. You are truly beautiful! I wish you the very BEST!
I am 4 years out of breast cancer with what sounds like your identical diagnosis and treatment plan.
Off that subject, I do have a question for you:
I too have been wearing the same lipstick as you and found out it is discontinued…..did you find a replacement yet to the “ Little Black dress” lipstick?
I have your same coloring and since you mentioned that lipstick years ago… that has been my favorite.
If you can suggest a “look a like” I would be so very appreciative.
I struggle with that and you have been such a big help to me. Thank you so much!
    Blessings to you Susan!
    Warm regards, Karen

  14. Wonderful news! By the way, you inspired me to start getting annual mammograms again. I hadn’t for the previous 2 years.

  15. Again, not pushing my faith but, as a prayer warrior I claim this as an answer to prayers for the best least invasive cure. By using your platform to inform, hopefully women will be motivated to stay mammogram current. Thank you for sharing your journey. Continuing to pray over you both.

  16. I had the same diagnosis as you with the same treatment. I am a seven year survivor.
As someone else suggested, follow the skin care procedures recommended by your radiologist. If you end up using aloe vera on your burns, you can keep it in the refrigerator for a more soothing affect. No one told me that at the time. Believe it or not, your life is about to be enriched. You are probably about to meet some very wonderful, courageous people who are going through both radiation and chemo, and it will make you so much more appreciative for the human spirit, your early diagnosis, and life in general. Compared to some, your journey will be a breeze. Best of luck. You got this.

  17. Susan, that is wonderful news! I am so happy to hear that both you and Mr. Mickey are doing well. Thank you for the update! Much love,
    Melissa

  18. Hip hip hooray! This is great news. Sounds like a wonderful reason for an outing to one of the fabulous restaurants you share with us. Have fun!

  19. I know you’re relieved because your treatments mirror mine in 2011. Phew. Dodged the chemo bullet. Radiation is nothing to be worried about — although you may get fatigued and want to briefly nap in the afternoon. Keep your energy levels up as best you can. This too shall pass.

  20. Great news. I’m confident you will do well with the plan for full recovery. Blessing to you and Mr. Mickey as you both remain in my prayers.

  21. Such great news for you and Mr. Mickey, Susan. That’s really wonderful to hear! This is a lovely outfit, I especially like the red jacket and the metallic bag is the perfect touch.
    p.s. Happy 67th birthday, a bit belated!

  22. Hi. So happy that you do not need chemo. What a blessing!!! Keep eating healthy and exercising like you always do and everything will continue to go well with you. Also, thanks for the update on Mr. Mickey.

  23. I appreciate you and your posts. You’re a truly beautiful lady and I’m happy that you don’t have to go through chemotherapy. I pray the radiation will be a good solution.
Glad to hear that Mr Mickey is doing well.
I enjoy your adventures. May you have many more!
    Jennifer Neeb (Canada)

  24. Prayers still being said for you and Mr Mickey. I am a cancer survivor (Ovarian Cancer, stage 3) I was only 27 years old with an 8 year old daughter. NowI am 75 and our daughter is 55. I came up fighting and followed the doctors orders. I had a very supportive husband and good family and friends. Hang in there. This will pass.

  25. Good news for you both; so glad to read this!! I have a mammogram, 3D, every year and then also checked by my Gynecologist once a year. Every couple of years, I have a senobright which gives more detail. Also a bone density test every other year. We have to be our own advocates, and be vigilant about keeping to a schedule for preventive maintenance.
Susan, you look lovely as always, and hope you and Mr. Mickey continue to experience good health and wonderful experiences together!

  26. WOOHOO! Avoiding chemo is huge! I was fortunate not to have to have it either. I have been on an AI (aromatase inhibitor, the hormone-suppressing pill) for four out of five years now. I tolerate it reasonably well, with some joint pain that is usually managed with Tylenol. Some people are luckier with side effects; some not so lucky. If you find you are having intolerable side effects with one AI, ask to try switching to another. (There are 3-4 different ones that are usually prescribed.) I didn’t do well with my first one, but have done much better with my second. Glad to hear Mr. Mickey is also thriving. All the best.

  27. You look so good, it’s hard to believe you have an illness. I’m very sorry to hear this but thank you for sharing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Mr. Mickey.

  28. You look awesome. I am glad you have a plan with your Dr. and that Mr. Mickey is doing well. Take care of each other and be kind to yourself. Thanks for the up date. I’ll be praying for both of you. I really enjoy your blog.

  29. I am so happy that you received such a positive report…ALSO that Mr. Mickey is doing so well. I had a kidney removed in 2019 due to a large maligancy that HAD NOT spread…, my DIL had breast cancer two years ago with chemo and radiation, but she is now cancer free. May God bless us all and the medical staff who study and care for us. You and Mr. Mickey support each other…. Enjoy all of your beautiful posts❤️. Barbara

  30. That is wonderful that you do not have to have chemo. I am a year older than you and had breast cancer in 2017; lumpectomy (lymph node involvement) followed by chemo and radiation. Six years out and I am more than fine. I am not on any medications.

I would just like to caution you to really keep your range of motion complete in your affected shoulder by completing the exercises they give you after radiation. I thought they were too simple (I am fit and limber from yoga and almost daily exercises since forever) and didn’t think they would matter (and I was tired). They matter. I don’t have limitations any more but it took awhile to get it all back.

You have provided a lot of help to others through your blog with your own experiences, so I offer the same to you. I wish you a full and quick recovery.

  31. Dear Susan!
You look as radiant as ever!!!
    So thankful no chemo
Will be keeping you in my prayers for NO adverse reactions to any meds or treatments!!!
Same for your precious Mr, Mickey.
    Loving you from TEXAS
    Carole

  32. Susan & Mickey, this is the absolute best news I have heard all year! I’m thrilled, yet not surprised that wonderful things happen for wonderful people like the two of you 🙂

Thanks so much for the update. You look fantastic! And so healthy!

    KD

  33. I had the same treatment a year ago and didn’t have many problem at all… some skin burning similar
To a sunburn and sensitivity … So many of my friends have also had breast cancer and are doing well. I wish you all the best as you move ahead! Thanks for your transparency and willingness to share.

  34. You’re a very brave lady and I hope all will go well for you. I enjoy your posts so much. Great style. I’ve learned a lot.

  35. Awe that is good news no chemo Susan, and Mr Micky 6 mths before next review. You both can now look forward to Christmas and of course Thanksgiving
in America . You can enjoy them with a weight off your shoulders .It seems early to talk about these celebrations but a blink of an eye and they will soon be upon us.
I love your cheerful red cardigan and the black slacks are my favourite length and cut. Thank you for sharing your health journey it’s very brave of you .
Take care Pamela from Wales UK

  36. Thank you for the good ‘no chemo’ news update Susan. I’m keeping you close in my heart.
My best to you and Mr. Mickey❤️

  37. I do apologise, I meant smart red Jacket not cardigan Nice cut and lines on the jacket as well, it’s not over baggy
    Loafers so classic .
    Pamela UK

  38. Hi Susan
Yay, no chemo! Very glad for you. I had chemo and radiation in 2018 & part of 19. So far all is well.

This is a great look for you. I mostly wear pull on pants these days so no belt loops. Good idea to reset and synch on the outside of the shirt. I may try that this fall.

    Stay well!

  39. That is good news!!! Chemo is terrible! Glad for Mr Mickey too! Cancer is horrible disease! I am a 10+ year survivor but always still scared when comes time for scans!! I’m considered “cured” so blessed with that.

  40. I went through stage 1 invasive breast cancer last year. Surgery, seven weeks of radiation both tolerated well. I have just completed a year of anastrozole therapy. I’m feeling well and doing everything I love to do. I think the most intimidating part is hearing the word cancer. But the good news is cancer treatment has come a long way and you will do well. If you need a buddy to talk with, reach out. I enjoy your blog and your aesthetic. Grace

  41. Thank you for sharing y’alls health updates with us. This has to be such welcoming news. May the new treatments and meds be a success. Happy Autumn, indeed
    Kind Regards,
    Cindy in Midlothian, VA

  42. Oh Susan, that is such good news! I am happy that both you and Mr. Mickey are doing well.
    You look absolutely radiant!

  43. Thanks for sharing where you are around treatment.
Sending best wishes for completing the radiation and
being able to get back to a lovely time.
Best to you and Mr Mickey!

  44. Hi Susan. I am sorry to hear you have breast cancer. I am a survivor of this horrid disease. I was diagnosed Almost 4 years ago now but I did need chemo for 6 months, radiation daily for 6 weeks and I also had multiple surgeries (9).
I know you will deal with this set back with the grace and strength you face everyday life. Please know I am sending you well wishes.
    Warmly
    Janne Bradley

  45. Susan, I’m so glad for you! Just wanted to let you know that you’ve been in my thoughts and prayers. I also wanted to say that you have looked exceptionally gorgeous in the last several posts. Keep doing what you’re doing. It wears well on you.

  46. Susan, so glad to hear this good news. I hope radiation and meds do the trick and you don’t have to deal with this again. God Bless you and Mr. Mickey too.

  47. So good to hear this news! You are on top of it and I pray that you continue to hold your health and prosper for years to come!

  48. Would have liked to have seen this pictured without the belt to better visualize what you were saying. I always look forward to your posts. Thanks for being so candid and open with your sharing.

  49. Susan, I would like to know what hormone inhibitor you will be taking. I tried two different ones and didn’t tolerate either one well but, took one for 10 years. So happy that you will only need to take one for 5 years.

You have no idea how blessed you are not having to take chemo. I am so happy for you. Radiation is not so bad — main issue for me was exhaustion.

So happy that you are both doing well and getting out there and enjoying what life has to offer.

  50. What wonderful news about your health and Mr Micky! May you have many more years of good health, fun times together and of course beautiful outfits to wear and share with us!

  51. Hi Susan,

  75. Praising God for this wonderful news Susan! May his hand of protection continue to guide you and may you tolerate the radiation and hormone inhibitors well. All the very best to you and Mr. Mickey,

    Barbara Wierzba

  76. That’s wonderful news for both of you. I’ll continue to keep both of you in my prayers for good health and a stronger and deeper faith in our almighty God.

  77. Great news! I was diagnosed 4 1/2 years ago with metastatic breast cancer which had spread to shoulder, thigh, pelvic, liver and bile duct. I have been on Ibrance and Letrozole all this time. Just recently had tumor #7 pop up in liver. Will have 5 strong radiation treatments starting next week. I am 83. I have been strong and stubborn. My worst problem is microscopic colitis which has dealt me more misery than cancer. My oncologist said amazing stuff in other year or so. So we can win. My breast cancer NEVER SHOWED UP ON yearly mammograms! You will win this battle as l others you have faced!

  78. Thank you for sharing your health update. You and Mickey have been a blessing to all of us and many prayers will continue to be lifted for you both.

  79. Dear Susan,

Fifteen years ago my daughter had the same treatment for Ca in her breast. I do not remember the kind of cancer it was. She had surgery to remove it and took Tamoxifen for five years. She is doing very well and is 66 years old right now. I am a cancer survivor myself. I wish you all the best. Keep up the way you have been doing, resting, eating to nourish your body and exercise when you are able.

Love and best wishes to both you and Mr. Mickey,

    Pat Perkins

  80. Susan,

  82. Wonderful news! I went through the same thing as you 11 years ago — and now I almost never even think about it. Wishing you continued good health!

  83. Great news for both you and Mr. M. What a sigh of relief for both of you I am sure. Thanks for sharing your good news with us.
Your smile takes the sting out of the words, radiation, so we all hope no ill effects from it once you start or from the meds either.
Take care, keep that smile and as one, KEEP THE BLOG GOING, grin! You see, we are thinking of ourselves temporarily between it, you and Mr. M, wink!
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers for as long as needed.
    Clara from Iowa

  84. Wonderful news!
Wishing continued good health to you and Mr. Mickey.

Such a lovely outfit, it radiates your positive attitude.

  85. Hi Susan! That’s great news! My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in March and had a lumpectomy but no chemo or radiation. She is on the hormone inhibitor pill as you will be. She is doing very well. I’m glad to read that Mr. Mickey is also doing well. Early detection makes the difference. Thank you for the update and happy Autumn!

  86. No chemo is wonderful news. I’m glad to see you back and I have been reading
some of your columns I missed.
Also, best wishes to Mr. Mickey.

  87. Olá!
Fiquei muito contente, por você e seu companheiro estarem bem.
Estou torcendo pela recuperação de ambos!
Abraços de sua fã de São Paulo/Brasil.

  88. So very happy for you that you don’t need chemo. I didn’t either. I believe I had the same type of cancer as yourself.
Just a suggestion, I used lanolin, like honey on my chest during radiation. It help my skin tolerate the treatments. I wore a slim high neck exercise tee shirt from Target to protect my clothing.
I also have been receiving acupuncture treatments to help with some of the pill side effects. I mainly have hot flashes and some joint pain.
Wishing you Susan a very easy recovery.

  89. So happy to hear your positive health updates. My husband has prostate cancer and hormonal treatment is working well to control things other than a couple of active spots in his back. He just underwent 2 radiation treatments to hopefully address those. Other than a bit more fatigue, he found it to be an easy and hopefully effective way of fighting back! Hoping it is easy and works well for you too. Sending hugs to you and sweet Mr. Mickey.

  90. That is great news. As a three time cancer person I know how you feel. Live and love every day, life is so wonderful!

I watch Susan after 60 ever since it started and have learned so much from you on how to look elegant and lovely. Thank you.

    Mary Ann

You sound like you are keeping up with your medical appointments and testing.

I am a survivor, and I don’t wish that treatment on anyone. Keep that positive attitude and beautiful smile. I enjoy your tips and posts! Take care!

  110. I’m so happy to hear this good report! You still look amazing (even though you’ve lost some weight! But the main thing is your attitude and outlook is so upbeat and positive. That’s half the battle! Best wishes for more good news and happiness.

  111. Congratulations, Susan! I wish you well with your treatments & medical appointments! Catching breast cancer earlier often makes treatments less invasive, & lifespans for cancer survivors longer!

    Good luck & best wishes!

  112. Hi Susan, your treatment plan sounds like mine. Stage 1 with lumpectomy in August, radiation (4 weeks of Monday – Friday) starting on Oct 2nd, and then likely some sort of hormone suppression med. A little scary over all, but grateful for an early catch. Best wishes for your next steps and a great prognosis! ❤️

  113. That’s such great news, for both you & Mr Mickey. Couldn’t be more pleased for you both! You two remain in my thoughts & prayers, & hoping your radiation goes smoothly. Love the outfit!

  114. Great news, Susan!
I will continue to keep you and Mr. Mickey in my prayers. I hope you get through the radiation treatments quickly and with no discomfort. It is so good to hear your good news!
    Blessings to you both,
    Judy Rains

  115. Wow! Wow! Wow! Good news for both of you! A healthy lifestyle pays off.
So happy for you and Mr. Mickey. I hope things will continue on the upswing.
Looking gorgeous as usual Susan. Love red on you.

  116. I am so happy for you both. I have a friend with pancreatic cancer who was given 1 year or less to live. It has been 2 years, and he does intermittent chemo with a 5 year prognosis. Modern medicine and early diagnosis, yay!

  117. Hi Susan

Great that you don’t need chemo.

Wishing you and Mr Mickey all the very best for return to health.

    Kind regards

  118. Thank you for sharing your WONDERFUL news, Susan! Also, great news about Mr. Mickey! As a fellow breast cancer survivor, I am so happy for you. Radiation is no fun … but I know you will finish it in style 🙂

    Take good care,

    Maryanne

  119. Fantastic news for both of you – I am so happy to hear it. Radiation can be a bit uncomfortable, but so much better than having to go through chemo. God bless you both going forward!!

  120. This is such good news!
You are such an inspiration for so many of us that struggle to find our style and strength
Sharing your own lessons and adventures gives me the little push I sometimes need.
May good health be yours and Mr. Mikey’s for many years to come.

  121. Congratulations on your roadmap to eliminating cancer. I had a similar diagnosis and treatment plan and am now 10 years cancer free! Best of luck! I love your website and look forward to each of your posts.

  122. All good news-that’s wonderful to hear.
Nice outfit-Love the red perky sweater color on you. Better yet, the metallic handbag is beautiful addition.
I see Coach is also coming out with some metallic bags. Fall is my favorite time to shop all year long.

Continue with good health the two of you,
Such a pleasure to view a classic lady in classic clothes.
Shades of yester year for me, but still enjoy.
    Blessings, Nancy Neupert

  123. That is wonderful news Susan! You must be so happy not to have to have chemo. I am happy for you! As always you look beautiful. Your grace and perseverant brave spirit shine in your photos and the stories you share. Wishing you well, always!

  124. I am delighted to read that you don’t have to undergo chemo and that Mr Mickey is doing well too. All the very best for your treatment plan over the next few years and may you continue to inspire us with your positive attitude and thoughtful posts!

  125. Dear Susan and Mr. Mickey – I’m rejoicing with you both on the great news that you have received. It’s so refreshing to see the two of you enjoying life to the fullest despite this recent “bump” in the road. You both put the “Energizer Bunny” to shame! Blessings and my sincerest belated birthday wishes to you both!

  126. I’m so glad to hear that you don’t have to have chemo. It can be hard to do in many ways and happy to hear you do not have to have it which is up beat news. Also everything I know about radiation is positive and has good results so that too is positive. Thanks so much for updating all of us. It means a lot as you through your blog have become like a family member. I just want to say watching your videos and reading your blog your lovely soul comes through and it is so nice to relate to a lovely personality like yours. Wishing you all good results in your recovery journey. Also glad to hear Mr Mickey is doing well too. Sincerely, Lois Allen.

  127. Susan, I did not know you were diagnosed with cancer. I assume it is in the early stages since you are not required to undergo the chemotherapy.

I was diagnosed with the early stage of breast cancer in May 2022 and had surgery in June 2022. I had one month of radiation five days per week in September and am taking a chemotherapy medication for the next five years also as well as the quarterly doctor visits.

I did undergo a problem which developed several months after radiation ended. The breast tissue in my right breast tightened and the pectoral muscle needed attention as I couldn’t reach up without pain. This summer I underwent six weeks of physical therapy for six weeks which helped tremendously. I am still doing the exercises daily which I’m sure will keep the muscles from tightening. No woman I knew had the same issue after radiation so I don’t know how prevalent this is. However, I am grateful for early detection through having yearly mammograms as well as the treatment mode which eradicated the cancer.

I hope your treatment of cancer is effective and you are able to put this health issue behind you with no further problems.

  128. Great news! Have been praying for you as your posts come up, celebrating with you that no chemo is necessary. You have been such an inspiration in your health journey, I am sure the choices you have made have helped lead to this. Hoping at each and every appointment you receive the “no evidence found” award! May you and Mr. Mickey enjoy many many more meals and fun drives.

  129. Liebe Susan,
alles Gute und Liebe für die weitere Genesung für Sie und Mr. Mickey. Ich folge Ihnen schon seit vielen Jahren und bewundere Ihren Geschmack. Liebe Grüße Meggi

  130. So glad to hear that you and Mr. Mickey are both doing well. You look wonderful in red! I look forward to reading your blogs and appreciate your helpful advice.

  131. I’m very glad to hear your good news on no chemo! You get to keep that beautiful hair! Well wishes to both of you in your continued progress!

  132. What wonderful news – no chemo! I had 20 radiation treatments before I had chemo treatments for bone cancer. It’s been six years and I’m doing well. I believe in the power of healing prayer and pray for you & Mr. Mickey’s continued good health. You are such an inspiration to many, many people. God Bless!

  133. Susan,
Thank you for sharing. So happy and thankful for you that there are no Chemo treatments needed. Great news on Mr. Mickey also.

    Praying for you both.

    Vickie

  134. I enjoy your post every week. Hope your treatment goes well. You are truly like a good a friend, I found you during Covid. Take good care of yourself.

    Kaye

  135. Thank you for sharing your good news. Because of early detection, I didn’t require chemo or radiation, but took Tamoxifen for five years. I am a twelve-year survivor. May you be cancer free in the future also.

  136. Dear Susan, I’m praying for a quick, complete, & successful resolution to this health issue for you. All the best. Many people are sending positive thoughts and good wishes your way! Best regards to Mr. Mickey.

  137. Such good news, Susan. And you look so radiant in this photo.
Could you please explain why adding a belt over your top helps?
    Many thanks & best wishes!

    1. Adding a belt shows where the waistline is rather than letting the hemline of the top bring the focus too low. Long and loose may seem like a great option for hiding our least favorite bits, but it can also make us look wider.

  138. Dear Susan
Your post brought happy tears to my eyes, for both you and Mr. Mickey! I needed to hear someone’s good news – to remind me that in this crazy world there can still be moments of pure joy.

Congratulations – and continue to Seize The Day, every single one!
    Much love

  139. That is wonderful news. I’ve been praying for you and Mr. Mickey also. My 18 year old granddaughter has to have her thyroid removed in October due to cancer. Drs. do not think she will have to do any treatments due to finding it early. Thankful for God’s goodness.

  140. I have been following you for a long time and always appreciated your blog and the sharing of your style and some of the events in your life – but have never commented until now. Just want to say how pleased I’m sure we all are that you are doing so well (Mr. Mickey too) and that, in spite of your health issues, you remain radiant and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

  141. I am so glad to hear your wonderful news! Yea, no chemo! I will be praying that the radiation treatments go well. May God bless Mr. Mickey with energy and strength. You are looking great! Thank you for giving us updates.

  142. Thank you for sharing your wonderful news. I enjoy reading your posts although I never leave comments as I am a great lurker. You and Mr. Mickey have been on my mind and heart and I am delighted you are doing well. May your health continue to improve. Best wishes always.

  143. May I ask what hormone inhibitor will you take? I took Aromasin for 7 years, [after radiation] and as soon as I was off it, the cancer was back in 3 months. Next, chemo therapy and within 4 years it was in opposite breast. Double mastectomy, and again it came back as metastatic breast cancer (in lung). I’m now taking Ibrance and Faslodex ( on these for 7 years). This all began in 1986! Never be conservative when it comes to breast cancer. 30% of breast cancers become metastatic. Don’t mean to scare you, but I wish I had a double mastectomy in 1986.

  144. Dear Susan, that is great news! My sister had similar treatment and doing well after more than five years. Enjoy this wonderful fall weather with those positive vibes.

  145. Congratulations! I’m sure that’s a big weight off your shoulders! Wishing you and Mr Mickey a speedy recovery and many years of good health.

  146. Thanks for sharing your good news. Please keep us posted and you are both in our thoughts and prayers.

  147. I’m so glad you don’t need chemo, but I have to warn you, those hormone inhibitors will cause you to have hot flashes which can really make life uncomfortable. At least that was my experience. But they have this device you wear on your wrist that helps you control them. They’re called Embr Wave. I don’t know if it works since I was past that stage by the time they came out, but I’d try it.

  148. Feels like my friend just got the best news ever. 4 weeks after this post, I read it and did a little whoop for you. Congrats on the early detection and treatment. May the good news continue! You are looking great, too. Thanks for sharing.

  149. How long lutein for your medical report!… Please share with us again what your eating regime is these days… Love the white collarless jacket!!
    Diana Paradis

    1. I mostly eat vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, full-fat Greek yogurt, and fruit. Occasionally, I have wild-caught fish or free-range chicken or turkey. My meals are consumed early in the day, and I always have small portions. I rarely have an evening meal.

  150. I am delighted to hear you won’t need chemo. I had breast cancer four years ago – 12 chemo treatments, 33 radiation treatments and an estrogen block pill probably for the rest of my life. (I am 73) All that aid, it was a good as it could be and I am thankful to be fairly healthy today. Congratulations on your good health; as always, you look wonderful.

  151. I’ve been away for a long while and decided to check in on you today. I was unaware of your and Micky’s health and am thankful that you’ve both had some good news. You are looking more beautiful than ever. I love your hairstyle and it’s good to see you again.
