I’m sorry but I don’t have any coupon codes for Shapeez right now. Contact the fit specialist with Shappeez. They will be happy to help you determine the right size and style for you. They are much better informed than I.
I am an avid follower of your fashion advice. I like that it is not flashy, expensive, or trendy but good common sense style to look well put together.
Like Ellie Bonner above, I’m not receiving your blog posts anymore, as of this week.
I tried to sign up again today, but your site is blocking me.
Thanks for solving this problem.
The only way that I have received your blog is through my Spam folder. Then I move it into my inbox. It has never arrived in my inbox.
I did try to sign up again today, but I was blocked.
Thanks for your help, Susan.
Hi Susan,
I tried to email you to let you know I have not been getting your emails for the last week, but it won’t go through. I so look forward to them! Could you please look into this and add me back again?
Thanks so much!!!!!!
Hi Susan,
So sorry to bother you again, but I’m not receiving your blog posts. I tried signing up again today, but no confirmation in my inbox nor in my Spam folder.
Hopefully your tech firm can rectify this for me as well as for other readers experiencing this problem.
Thank you,

Hi Susan,
Just checked my Spam folder again & a confirmation email was there-finally! I clicked on it to confirm, so I’ll check carefully this week to see what happens.
Thanks for your patience with all of my complaining.

I am also 5’6″ and my weight hovers between 138-140 which is a little higher than I think it should be if I want to look good in the clothes you wear. Do you have any advice or helpful suggestions since you eat out a lot but clearly have your weight under control? I love your style and especially the links you provide.
Thank you!
I weight about 145 most of the time. When you eat out, try to stick to the same types of food and quantity you eat at home. I often order a salad or just an appetizer. A whole entree is always too much food, so if I do order one, I will take about half of it home with me or share it with Mr. Mickey.
Hi-I follow your blog and enjoy your advice. I’m interested in purchasing one of the Everlane Cashmere V-Neck Sweaters. Do you find they run large? I’m busty and between a L and XL. Just looking for any advice on size. Thank you.
I find that the sweaters run true to size. The V-neck seems a bit roomier and a little longer than the crewneck, but both are very comfortable and soft.
I love reading your blog and LOVED the Beauty Counter product you recommended, looking at swapping my entire skincare system over to Beauty Counter. Do you ever answer questions when selecting products?
I’ll be happy to help you make the right choices, or you can click on the links to the right side of the site under Concern to determine which products are right for your skin type.
Hi have been trying to send a msg regarding sourcing a black leather belt with elasticized back similar to the one Chicos carried last year, I purchased a navy one and love it however they no longer carry that belt in any colours. MT and KR Joy
Susan, I will turn 60 in January 2021. You have been such an inspiration for me. I also got conned by a predator, but he had been a family friend. He got me immediately after the death of my husband of 20 years. After 9 years, I finally got free and am enjoying who I am. I am going to buy a camera for my birthday and take pics of my outfits. Then I will know what looks good and what doesn’t! Thank you! Jeanette
I would like to purchase a black leather belt with an elasticised back similar to a navy one I purchased from Chicos some time ago, unfortunately they no longer have them would you know of any other stores that carry something similar pls. MT and KR Joy
I’m sorry, Joy. I searched everywhere for an elasticized belt like the one from Chico’s a few years ago. (I remember those!) I could not find even one.
I have trouble wearing a large polyester/silk scarf around my neck. It slips and I am constantly arranging it. Any tips on how to keep a slippery scarf in place?
Dear Susan,
Just reaching out to humbly share with you that I GET YOU.
I’m not sure you have been told that, recently, ever, but you have talents that are gifts,
and I am flabbergasted by your ideas which are inspiring
and pleasantly somewhat intimidating is a good encouraging way.
This New Year 2021 is the year I’ve chosen to open doors that I didn’t even think to knock on,
and you were on the other side of one I opened while seeking what I had left in me in
my fifties.
I want to thank you for your excellent blog which I discovered when Youtube magically brought up your channel a few months ago. I have learned a lot from you including trying Shapeez, Beautycounter and lovely, sane tips for dressing at this age. I like how you include finding, for example, shoes here. You have a nice attitude and very good guidance plus your blog is entertaining. Thank you for doing it.
Dear Susan, I am a new follower and love your blog. COVID has given us all more time home to read and research maybe even clean out and reorganize our closets! In one blog you said that you researched fashion, color and style when you started this journey. Could you recommend some books on these topics I am very interested in recreating my style. My body type is a bit different. I am smaller on top but not really a true pear shape. I too am tired of spending money on clothes that I wear once and decide they don’t really work for me or that they don’t wash up well. I love classic style and know they look best on me tailored and clean. Also I would love to know what your day looks like and how you start your day and do your routines. I am newly retired and working on getting into regular routines that allow me to get self care, exercise, reading and healthy cooking done each day! Thank you again for taking the time to do the blog it is very helpful for women like us!
Thank you Connie. I have blogged about my daily routine here. One of my favorite books on style is “Timeless Style – What to Wear Over 50: Dressing Well for the Rest of Your Life” by Anna Harvey.

My wife Penny loved your website because you understood her thinking about colours and fashion for the mature lady. She followed you right up to her death in May 2019 when she died from cancer. Like Mr Micky, I loved shopping with my wife and the highlight of our year was when we came on holidays from Brisbane Australia to LA to shop in the South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa CA.
She could then put her ideas, from your website, into action and it gave us both so much fun and happiness to be able to shop together for hours with meal breaks as required. This then set her up for the next twelve months as Australian fashions are not really designed for the older ladies with taste. I have continued to follow you and Mr Micky since her death so that she can look over my shoulder at your weekly bulletin. I was touched by your latest contribution “A Special Evening” as it bought a lump to my throat of how much I am missing her and the interaction we had that was sponsored by your website over the years. It showed me how well the two of you go together and without wishing to appear to sound morbid from one who has lost a partner to a couple who are clearly enjoying life, make the most of every minute together as each one is precious. Thanks for reading the ramblings of to an oldie. Long may your website continue!
My Regards to you Both
Sir John Pound Bt.
Good evening- several weeks ago you shared your thoughts on food selections and mentioned that you often have just one meal a day ( other than breakfast). This certainly peaked my interest as I think I am just eating 3 meals out of habit, even though I am not hungry. I was wondering about the time of day you choose to have that meal and if it is more of a late lunch time, how do you deal with the typical dinner hour and not eating. Are snacks involved at certain times of the day? If you eat late afternoon, do you feel obligated(?) to eat a piece of fruit to take the place of dinner? I just feel that 3 meals are so ingrained in me, but I think I would feel much better with one meal a day. I know it sounds like it should be a simple process, but I need more of your thought process behind it and if you experience ups and downs when you made this switch/decision.- and why did you? I know this is lengthy, but I really would appreciate your input. I am turning 70 in a few weeks. Thank you.
Susan
I wait until I am truly hungry to eat, never because it is a certain time. As we age and become less active, we need fewer calories. On four or five days per week, I have a late lunch and then stop eating for the day.
First, I love what you are doing for women over 60. Your fashion and tips are outstanding and very helpful.
I hope you can give me a few tips on what I can do for my fashions. I’m 65 years old, 5’6″, weight 191 and unfortunately a muffin top. I do wear longer tops to hide it but still need help. Any advise would be helpful and very thankful.
You may find that a shorter top that ends as your hips start to get smaller will be the best length top for you. Always dark neutral colors on the spots you do not want to draw attention to.
You’re appearing in an advertisement video for Goldie’s Bra, which is advertised on Facebook. Since you don’t wear the brand, based on past posts, thought you’d want to know.
I did not authorize that company to use my images, nor do I endorse that product. I only wear bras from Shapeez.com. Thank you for letting me know about this.
Hi Susan,
You may be aware already but a website that is selling bras is using your image. The website is eeinside.com and the posting on Facebook is through Red Chou.
I guess my email dropped you from my email. I haven’t been able to get your posted in quite awhile. I really have missed your post.
How can i get back to receiving your weekly post
At one time, you did some modeling for a company that sold beautiful tops. They didn’t cling and flowed nicely. I can’t remember the name. Would you mind sharing?
Hi Susan
There is a company using your likeness to sell bras for older women. Your photo is at the 2:52 mark under Customer reviews. I am including the link below.
It is Fetchhot_US on Facebook, selling Goldie Bras
It is a photo of you with someone named Grace age 68. It seems like a really sketchy company…
I would love to know the length to look for and also the size of the pearls and shade of the color. And yours was so lovely I would like to see them again to see if I can find anything close. Thank you so much. You have changed my like with all the knowledge you’ve shared. Bless you
Thank you, Billie. I will send you an email. The necklaces feature 8mm cream glass pearls with silvertone and crystal accents on the clasps. Each necklace measures forty inches in length. The company that made them is Nadri.
Hola Susan.
Soy seguidora de tu blog desde hace más de 8 años.
Cómo en ocasiones pides temas para el blog. Podrías hacer un hilo sobre bolsos?
Gracias y sigue con el buen trabajo
Good Morning, I am moving from Oregon to Johnson City, TN in a month. I am so excited. I was wondering if you might have thoughts on how to get plugged in in my new home?
What topics interest you? We have many active clubs, from hiking to pottery to painting and gardening. Here is one site that gives a few popular attractions.
Greetings Susan! Just wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing the name of the accommodation you stayed in during your southern vacation blog post in Beaufort? Thanks, best regards
Keep any folds or knots above your bustline, and long, lean vertical lines (as worn in the photo) always work for me because it cuts the acreage up top.
Hi, Susan – I tried sending a message above but reCaptcha wasn’t working. I am planning to write a blog post about a healthy way of eating that is similar to yours. May I have your permission to refer to some of your meals, photos in the post? Thanks – Angie,
I asked you this on one of your posts, but I can’t find it. What comfortable footwear would you wear for walking in NYC this winter in cold, wet weather?
Hello Susan ~ would you by chance have any suggestions as to where I could purchase round storage boxes for hats? Over the past year my collection has grown. Thank you in advance.
Hi Susan, I’ve been following your blog off-and-on for several years. I am looking for info on the bra/tank undergarment you’ve mentioned several times in the past. Thank you!
Susan: I downloaded one of your photos so I could show my hairdresser the cut I want. BUT…I forgot to ask your permission. Please let me know if not OK and I will delete it.
Hi Susan, I just love your blog. I’m 67 and like you I always care about my appearance but I don’t have that polished look. I’m going to buy some scarves. Thank you
Thank you for probiding such inspiration through your blog. I apoligize if this is a duplicate request, but did you ever do a blog addressing what is needed in a good basic shoe and handbag wardrobe?
The answer will be different for every woman. Your lifestyle and climate will determine your needs. I would invest in classic medium-size bags in black and nude/taupe/tan if I were starting over. Casual, warm, comfortable for long walks, dressy, and business-appropriate are the shoe categories I would be looking for. Black, tan, nude, and taupe leather shoes and bags are most versatile.
Hi Susan,
Thank you for your quick reply. I appreciate your suggestions which make so much sense. I will be retiring in few years and am working on building a wardrobe that is more relaxed and that I can use as a foundation. My trouble is I have dressed for “work” for so many years I am afraid that my dressed down wardrobe will be dull, but am learning by adding jewelery and scarves it livens up a dull sweater and pants. I am 5 feet 2 inches and busty so I have to make sure not to draw attention to my ample chest. Monochromatic or column dressing is my go to look for work, and evenings out so I need to find a look that is classic, flattering, comfortable, and fun. I do not want to by a new wardrobe every season just replace the items that ser d me well so buying quality is key.
Hi Susan. Some years ago you introduced me to YON pants which I purchased from you. I would like another pair but cannot see where to get them. Do you know where to find them?
The best upright steamer I’ve ever used is the Jiffy here. The best travel steamer I’ve used is here. Only use distilled water in the tanks, but water calcification still happens, so clean the tank monthly. Fill the tank with 1/2 vinegar 1/2 distilled water. Turn on until it just starts to steam. Then turn off for 1/2 hour. Then run until the tank empties. Then fill with distilled water and run again to get the vinegar smell out.
Hello Susan,
So happy to have found your site! I am 62, single and have been looking for advice on classic style that still shows how young and fun I am in an appropriate way!
Susan, With deep gratitude your blog is a gift for me. My life is finally taking shape, after my husband’s suicide several years ago. Your example of self-care and resilience is so appreciated. You add beauty and dignity to the details of life. Many blessings as your own journey continues to unfold. Janette
I think my comment is my question about Ankle pant leg length…I wish I could wear heels to really look stylish with these (as you do!) but cute low heel sandals are a necessity. I think the Ankle pant probably ‘stops’ at the ankle, yet exposes it. The photos from Chico’s seems to show them in that leg length, but thought I would ask you. I appreciate you! Suzanne
Ankle length is about two inches above the ankle bone on taller ladies. So it is flattering if your pants stop at the slender part of your leg. The problem with most cropped styles is that they stop at the widest part of the leg.
The dress I ordered from Tuckernuck has a lightweight slip liner under the skirt, so no slip is needed. Otherwise, I haven’t worn a slip in many years.
Hi Susan, I so enjoy all your post, I have actually been able to match most of my outfits the same as yours. My husband and I recently retired and downsized homes,
It isn’t easy, So I have been working on downsizing my clothes, shoes etc. Could you please tell me the basics to keep, and or look for, most of my outfits were suites,
Now I don’t need a professional wardrobe,
I think I noticed your jeans and slacks mostly come from Talbots; I’m planning on going there next week.
Think about your current lifestyle and how you would like to dress for those events. Then, look for light, medium, and dark-colored pieces to mix, match, and layer with accessories to add personality and panache.
Although I live in New Zealand and in a different season I have been inspired by your posts and to look closely at my wardrobe and start to take more care at what I wear. I am 69 and realize I have become very frumpy!
Thank you for your inspiration.
Susan,
Best wishes and prayers for you and Mr. Mickey for your health issues. I enjoyed your blog on Fifty Not Frumpy and continue to enjoy it here. I am older, taller, and with different coloring and shape than you, but still find your advice very helpful! I have never subscribed or written to you, but like me, I’ll bet their are many women who enjoy and benefit from your generous sharing of thoughts and information. Thank you.
Could you please tell me how long it took to get ur hair one length, My hair is curly and thick with some frizz. I love your hair and your posts. You are a very beautiful lady.
I’d love to order the J Crew jeans, but am unsure of size. I wear size 6 in Talbots jeans. I tried size 28 trouser jeans at J Crew Factory, but they were too big. 27 fit better. Do you find Factory sizes are different from regular J Crew? At $158, I don’t want to order two sizes and return one. I hate to have to return them, but will if needed. I am 5′ 8, 128 lb, waist about 28.
Hi Susan. I learn so much from you! I hope you will style slingback flats with pants. In past years I had trouble with slacks getting caught between the heels of my feet and the inner soles of slingbacks. Do these shoes need a straight leg, above ankle pant? Thank you!
Hi Susan ,
Watching the weather and news channels Hoping that You and your Dad and Mr Micky oh and daisy are safe and have all your basic needs . My name is Madonna Jameson I love folllowing your blog as it really helps me stay in touch with what’s hot in the world of design . I mean it doesn’t matter that I just celebrated my76 th birthdatc does it ?
By the way I live in Missouri and of course we are safe no flooding but we are surrounded by big beautiful lake s and Rivers and I know what is possible in this area we had a massive ice storm in 2007 and in the Words of the Electric man that came to see why we had no electric he said mam you’ve lost your neutral !!!! Not wanting him to think I didn’t know what he was talking about I said ok and as it happened we lost our neutral for two weeks “ no electricity “ we had to bring in a generator to get power back in the house and until that got installed outside we cooked in the open fireplace not fun !!!!!!
Congratulations! Thank you for your posts. I have learned so much about fashion, healthy living, and living a serene life from you, Susan. I appreciate all of your generous contributions to myself and others. Blessings to you and Mr. Mickey!
Where are you based? Your trips to Grove Park sound wonderful. My husband and I are looking at the greater Asheville area for a possible relocation so I’m trying to do some research. Thanks.
Just read “Dressing The Busty Figure,” from way back in 2016 I find myself nodding yes at so many of your ideas. Your words are encouraging, e.g., layering carefully. I try to layer, de-emphasize my shape, but I struggle with gaping tops like button-front dress shirts as the outer layer. :\ And your recommendation for v-necklines: you are persuasive but I get so nervous with them — I do not want cleavage on display!!
Anyway, thanks for the article, and I will try to read your other articles for various ideas. : )
Susan,
Any suggestions on the Shapeez bras? I’m thinking the shorty. I need to get rid of the bulges in my back.
Also, do you have any coupon codes?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I’m sorry but I don’t have any coupon codes for Shapeez right now. Contact the fit specialist with Shappeez. They will be happy to help you determine the right size and style for you. They are much better informed than I.
How do I open an account.
Hello
I have a question,
I want to order a dress from your shop.
but I can not find it anymore on your site.
Mail me if you are going to sell it again.
I’ll wait.

I’m sorry, but I had to close my online shop earlier this year because I lost my leading clothing supplier.
Any suggestions on clothes suppliers? I have just found your site, please.

Silly question. Do you know someone named Sandra Hart? She looks like she could be an older sister.
No, I don’t know Sandra, but I’ve seen a couple of her videos. She is a lovely woman.
Do you have a eye cream to recommend for sensitive skin around the eyes?
I also have very sensitive skin. Here is the most gentle and soothing cream I have ever used.
I would like to know the retail prices that these pieces have sold for.
Thanks
The necklaces shown sold from $225 to $500 at retail.

Regards,
Marcie Warnock
Thank you for letting me know. I have asked them repeatedly to stop using my images and videos.
I guess my email dropped you from my email. I haven’t been able to get your posted in quite awhile. I really have missed your post.
How can i get back to receiving your weekly post
You emails are going into my junk mail.
Hopefully that can be corrected.
Thank you!
If you mark the email as not Spam, you should start getting them in your inbox.
Could I be on fb notices.
I no longer share posts on Facebook.
At one time, you did some modeling for a company that sold beautiful tops. They didn’t cling and flowed nicely. I can’t remember the name. Would you mind sharing?
That is CoveredPerfectly.com.

Thank you, Clarice. Many people have reported this to me. I’ve asked them numerous times to stop using my video and my image.
Thanks bunches,
Tina
What topics interest you? We have many active clubs, from hiking to pottery to painting and gardening. Here is one site that gives a few popular attractions.
Greetings Susan! Just wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing the name of the accommodation you stayed in during your southern vacation blog post in Beaufort? Thanks, best regards
I stayed in a VRBO.com cottage. I think it was advertised as The Mermaid cottage.
Reaching you by email doesn’t work. It keeps saying invalid captcha.
I am looking for your posts on what you eat. I found those inspiring. What are the titles of some?
Peggy
I eat mostly vegetables, some pasta, and some fresh fruit. The post here shows more details.
Susan, I’m not sure you got my note but I’ve changed email address. New one is below
Thank you for letting me know. I have updated your registered email address to the new one.
I’m looking for your breakfast porridge from previous website but don’t remember name of previous site
Here is the post you might be thinking of.
Am trying to figure a way to wear scarves (which I love)… my problem is that I’m “top heavy” … any suggestions?
Keep any folds or knots above your bustline, and long, lean vertical lines (as worn in the photo) always work for me because it cuts the acreage up top.
Sorry to bother you again… I was going to ask how tall are you? I read earlier where you said you kept your weigh around 145.
I am five feet and six inches tall.
Hi, Susan – I tried sending a message above but reCaptcha wasn’t working. I am planning to write a blog post about a healthy way of eating that is similar to yours. May I have your permission to refer to some of your meals, photos in the post? Thanks – Angie,
Yes, Angie, you may share my meal plans and photos on your blog.
I asked you this on one of your posts, but I can’t find it. What comfortable footwear would you wear for walking in NYC this winter in cold, wet weather?
Thanks, Susan
Here is my suggestion. I’ll also send you an email.
Thanks again.
Hello Susan ~ would you by chance have any suggestions as to where I could purchase round storage boxes for hats? Over the past year my collection has grown. Thank you in advance.
I bought a lot of my hat boxes at T.J.Maxx. I found similar ones on Amazon here.
Hi Susan, I’ve been following your blog off-and-on for several years. I am looking for info on the bra/tank undergarment you’ve mentioned several times in the past. Thank you!
The bra I wear every day is the Ulitmate Pretty style here.
Susan: I downloaded one of your photos so I could show my hairdresser the cut I want. BUT…I forgot to ask your permission. Please let me know if not OK and I will delete it.
You are welcome to use the photo. I hope you are happy with the way your hair turns out. Thank you for asking.
Hi Susan, I just love your blog. I’m 67 and like you I always care about my appearance but I don’t have that polished look. I’m going to buy some scarves. Thank you
Susan,
Thank you for probiding such inspiration through your blog. I apoligize if this is a duplicate request, but did you ever do a blog addressing what is needed in a good basic shoe and handbag wardrobe?
Thank you,
Kelly Shoffeitt
Thank you for your economical wardrobe suggestions and tips on looking our best!
What foods fo you enjoy and where did you get your ring?
I purchased the ring I wear most often at a boutique called ‘Spoiled Rotten’ in Highlands, NC. I eat mostly fresh organic vegetables.
Hi Susan. Some years ago you introduced me to YON pants which I purchased from you. I would like another pair but cannot see where to get them. Do you know where to find them?
Her number is 954-973-7771 or email at yondesigninc@me.com.
Hi! So glad I found you, I, too, am Susan over Sixty! I wondered if you had a garment steamer that you would recommend.
Thank you for all the knowledge you share, it’s greatly appreciated.
I am trying to find out the name of the water filtration machine you featured in one of your episodes. Thank you Susan.
I also emailed the link to you. It is a Big Berkey filtration system here.
Susan, With deep gratitude your blog is a gift for me. My life is finally taking shape, after my husband’s suicide several years ago. Your example of self-care and resilience is so appreciated. You add beauty and dignity to the details of life. Many blessings as your own journey continues to unfold. Janette
I’m sorry for your loss, Janette. Thank you for your kind words. I’m honored that anything I’ve shared is helpful to you.
Do you wear slips? I just ordered the dress you wore in your last blog.
Thank you,
Any advice would be wonderful.
Susan Sennett
Think about your current lifestyle and how you would like to dress for those events. Then, look for light, medium, and dark-colored pieces to mix, match, and layer with accessories to add personality and panache.
Please talk about some options to wear to a black tie optional bridal reception in March.
Thanks.
Here is a good article that explains black tie and also shows some examples.
Thank you.
Hello Susan,
Could you please tell me how long it took to get ur hair one length, My hair is curly and thick with some frizz. I love your hair and your posts. You are a very beautiful lady.
It took about a year to grow out, but it still has some layers cut into it.
Looking forward to your newsletter. You have been so helpful in the past years .
I wear a size 6 at Talbots in jeans and a 28 in trouser jeans from J Crew. I’ve not tried anything from J. Crew Factory.
Any tips on how to dress while losing weight, but not at your goal weight?
Thank you
I purchased pants at thrift stores and redonated them as I changed sizes.
Hi Susan. I learn so much from you! I hope you will style slingback flats with pants. In past years I had trouble with slacks getting caught between the heels of my feet and the inner soles of slingbacks. Do these shoes need a straight leg, above ankle pant? Thank you!
I have the same issue. I’ve decide that it is best to pair sling backs with shorter pants or skirts.
Hi Susan ,
Watching the weather and news channels Hoping that You and your Dad and Mr Micky oh and daisy are safe and have all your basic needs .
Thanks.
I live in Johnson City, about an hour’s drive away from Asheville.
