After our first date nineteen years ago, Mr. Mickey sent me roses every week for a year. We enjoyed lovely dinners at two of our favorite restaurants this week to celebrate that first date.
When we arrived at Juniper on Thursday evening, the host took us to our table, where a card and a dozen red roses were waiting for me.
The chef-owners sent us a glass of bubbly to start the celebration, and after our meal, they sent a special dessert.
On Friday evening, we celebrated by returning to the same table where we enjoyed our first date at Gourmet and Company.
Mr. Mickey has been there for every milestone and memorable event, cheering me on and supporting me in everything I wanted to do. He encouraged me to start and also continue blogging.
His kindness, sense of adventure, and fun socks have made my life happiest in the last nineteen years. His custom socks were a gift from his daughter, Regina. She had them made here.
Once again, when the host at Gourmet and Company took us to our table, a dozen red roses and a card were there for me.
The newest item in my look is that fabulous necklace.

Chef Jacob sent us Mr. Mickey’s favorite deviled eggs.
Mr. Mickey enjoyed a delicious steak with vegetables.
I had the fabulous Jilton Vegetarian. (Created by and named for Mr. Mickey!)
The cornbread apple cobbler was delish!

I was reading Carl your story and we were marveling at that Mr. Mickey!! Roses every week for a YEAR??!!! Tell him he’s amazing! But then you are both amazing together! A funny….. Carl has limited knowledge about your blogs, but he was saying “gosh they were together even before her other blog…. what was it? “50 not Grumpy?” I quickly said “NO — that was Frumpy not Grumpy!!!” and I went on to tell him you didn’t have a grumpy bone in your body! And how I know that, I saw Mr. Mickey one time at the post office and I was telling him that I followed your blog and how much I enjoyed it, and his comment to me was that as nice as you are in the blog, you are always just that nice. (I may have paraphrased that a bit, but I’ve always remembered what a sweet comment that was for him to say about you!) Happy Anniversary!!

Congratulations: I share in your joy !!! I was married for 54 years before my husband died. Wedding Anniversaries and our Birthdays. We never worked on those days. We took leave from work. Focused on sharing the day together. We set off early in the morning. A light breakfast overlooking a spectacular view or sat on the beach. Lunching in a quaint cafe in a town on our sightseeing route. Sharing our love story with the staff. We did this to send a message to everyone and anyone, that love can last a lifetime. Often my late husband Paul, would quickly open his wallet to share a black and white photo of me at age seventeen.
You have a wonderful love story to share too! I’m glad you had each other and that you shared your special times in such a special way.

I’ll try to make a note of the lip color in future blog posts, but I wear a pencil to line and fill in my lips with color and than a lip balm over that. Intense Passion is the lip pencil here. Broadest Berry or Fuller Fig here might be the lip balm.
