The last time I went on vacation, I packed a couple of dresses, and I was so glad I did. They were perfect to wear while sitting by the pool, shopping in small villages, or lounging in my room reading in the evenings.
It has been much cooler here this week, so I wore one of the dresses with a lightweight white cotton cardigan on Tuesday. The silver seahorse sandals and silver and white earrings complete the look. I drink more than a gallon of water each day, so there is always a glass within reach while I am at home.
I purchased the blackberry wine tank dress here. It is also available in petite, tall, and plus-sizes as well as several colors. The fabric is soft, comfortable cotton, and modal blend. I take it out of the dryer after about five minutes and hang it to air dry. It has pockets and is bra strap friendly. I am wearing a misses size small.
I found the seahorse sandals a couple of years ago at the end of the season clearance sale at Dillard’s. Here’s a tip: always look for classic items when you are shopping the sales. Trendy items will have likely had their fifteen minutes of fame already. You may not want to wear them next year.
I found the earrings at Stein Mart a few years ago. I always try to locate similar items to recommend since I rarely shop now. Sandals – here, here, and here. Earrings – here, here, and here. White cotton cardigan – here, here, here, and here.
I’m wearing makeup even though I am staying at home. I needed a pick me up on this rainy, cloudy day. The lip color is Orchid here. My favorite new skincare product is here. It makes me look like I have been on vacation instead of sick for a month. I’ve been with Beautycounter for three years as of this month. I’m so glad I discovered this line. It has indeed been a game-changer for me.
I used my Sony Alpha a5100 camera’s timer and a tripod to take my photos. Links in my posts may provide a small commission to me at no additional cost to you. I do not do advertising, sponsored posts, or accept gifts in exchange for reviews.
This is so effortlessly chic; comfortable but not sloppy. I’m teleworking in the pandemic and I’m trying hard to not fall into overly casual habits. I try to put on makeup and an attractive outfit daily even if no one will be seeing me. Just makes me feel better to take pride in my appearance.
Good Morning Susan!
You are lovely as always in your casual “staying at home” attire. I think, I have been following your blog since 2010. Have you been blogging that long? This will be our 4th move since following and of course I will take you with me.
You and your sweet adventures with your Mr. Mickey and all that you share have been such a comfort over the years. I would miss you too much to leave you behind.
We are moving back to GA, and I can’t wait! All the places we love to go are only hours away instead of days! Ha.
See you soon!
Judith
I love your dress and you look so chic. I also purchased a “lounging dress” recently and I love it. I usually wear it in the late afternoon as I settle in with a good book and a glass of wine or just for a day when I’ll be home without having to do any cleaning.
That’s what I do too. I get up very early and have my walk, gardening, and house cleaning done by about noon. After that, I take a long hot bath and relax.
I have 2 long summer dresses which got a lot of compliments. I recently read that these are out of style. I haven’t been wearing them since but now I realize that I can wear them as lounging dresses. So comfortable! Thanks for the idea. I’d probably never had thought of it.
Suzanne
I love the portrait at the foot of your stairs, it appears to be you and Mr. Mickey! I hope you don’t find this to be impertinent but your shoes always look brand new! When you post a photo they don’t even look like you’ve had them on! The shoes and sandals I slip into on a regular basis, although I think they’re still cute, (Vionic Tide II with sequins, Muck boots around horses) they usually at least show some wear. I’d never post a close up of them! This is aspirational for me, I love the sea horse sandals and the jeweled ones you wore yesterday. They do your lovely feet justice!
If my shoes got more wear, I’m sure they wouldn’t look as good. I have collected (too many!) shoes and bags for years, but I don’t wear or use some of them very often.
Another great color on you! Have enjoyed your blog for many years and I find each post enjoyable and informative. Glad you feeling better each day. I just ate a delicious baked sweet potato and thought of you!
Thank you for all your advice. You are an inspiration. I know you had listed all the beautycounter products you use on one of your blogs. Would you please repeat the list, or let me know what blog page to look for? Also, what products would you recommend for someone with large pores? At this point, my skin is not oily, just still have the large pores. I want the tightening, brightening and lifting that will produce the good skin, no makeup look! Also, is there a mascara that does not affect my gas permeable contact lens wearing eyes? What lipstick/eyeshadow colors work for brown hair and eyes with warm tones as opposed to your cool colors?
Thank you.
The routine I recommend for your large pores includes the Overnight Resurfacing Peel here and the Countermatch Skincare here. I avoid putting moisturizer in my T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) in the summer.
I use this mascara and don’t have smudges or flaking. The best eyeshadow colors for your warm brown eyes are these. The most flattering natural looking lipstick color for your warm skintone would be Twig here.
I love this outfit – casual, comfortable, & chic.
I very much appreciate you continuing your blog, and I hope you’re back to feeling full-strength soon!
I have to admit that I did the same as Donna Z. I had a baked sweet potato tonight and I thought of you!
I’m so glad that you are feeling better. You look wonderful in your dress and the color is so flattering on you.
Thank you for all the research you put into your blog. I learn so much from you.
Love this outfit on you, Susan…so flattering…I have a ?silly question about drinking so much water…do you feel that your bladder adjusts eventually or do you spend much of the day in the powder room…
(I’m working on increasing my water intake each day) …thanks!
Susan. Glad you have pivoted and gotten on the dress train! I find they are very versatile and so feminine when traveling especially. Cheers and thank YOU for your ongoing posts despite all recent obstacles. I am learning from each of your valuable, fun, frank and classy posts! I live for the scarves and outfits from your former store too.
You look wonderful, Susan, and I love those sandals. I, too, noticed the photo behind you. I enjoy seeing your home as background while you are recovering. So happy to hear you are getting stronger and feeling better.
Lovely! A casual dress is so comfortable and cool in the summer. I have some cotton A-line skirts I wear with sandals around the house and garden this time of year. You are looking very well, by the way. So glad to know you are getting better.
You wore a Talbots grey long vest with black collar and I don’t remember what you paired it with.
Is it possible to send me that link? It was in the winter.
Thank you!
Linda Schenk
Hi Susan. Love that dress and the color on you. I love maxi dresses in the summer. They are so cool and an instant outfit. I don’t wear them much in the winter because of the snow here.
I was wondering if you could show us again how you put together an outfit with accessories. Like you could wear a pair of pants and a cami and then go from there to switch it up for a few different looks and day to night maybe? Thanks. Glad you are feeling well again.
You look stunning, Susan! I must tell you that I take screen shots of outfits I like, and save them in albums for ideas. The ones of you are titled ‘Classy Susan’. I enjoy and learn a lot from your blog, Your tutorial on makeup application is my all time favorite! Patting it onto my face makes all the difference! Thanks so much for your inspiration, especially during these difficult times.
Stay well,
Patti
I LOVE a cute dress with POCKETS!!! I always feel overdressed with a maxi dress on to just “run around” in but there is something about adding the cardigan that to me helps.
You have mentioned your shop in blogs. I have tried to go to it but the link doesn’t work. I am interested in looking at your crepe basics. Please tell me how to access the shop.
I had to close my shop last year after I lost my main clothing supplier. You can buy those crepe items here. Scroll down on the page to see the clothing. If you use the code susanafter60, I think you can get free shipping.
Susan, someone else has already asked about your water consumption, but I am still very curious about the gallon per day. That is equal to 16 eight-ounce glasses—twice the traditional recommendation of 8 glasses per day (which some health professionals now say may be excessive). Will you please confirm the gallon? And, if you don’t mind telling us, how you determined on this amount of water, and also what your health practitioner thinks.
I also drink water in coffee and tea. The Big Berkey water filter I use holds 2.25 gallons of water. I have to fill it at least every other day. My health practitioner tells me she wishes she was as healthy. (I have been her patient for almost fifteen years.)
Hi Susan,
I’m so glad you are feeling well again. That color is beautiful on you. While I don’t enjoy dresses, yours looks lovely. Thanks for your blog I always look forward to reading it.
Hello Susan: It’s wonderful to see you looking so healthy! As always, your style choices are on the mark. Love the shade of the tank dress. I’m curious about the Beauty Counter products. I clicked on the link and there are so many choices. Where to begin? I don’t wear much makeup – am fair skinned with silver hair and light eyes. Do have a couple of dark spots which I try to hide with concealer. I just love how fresh and youthful your skin looks! Any tips on which products to start with? Thanks!
Maura
As an after 60 woman myself, I love your blog and wear very similar clothes! It’s always nice to see new accessory ideas, Plus I enjoy the little glimpses into your life. Thank you for sharing with us! BTW, what is the paint color in your living room? I’m looking for a new neutral that’s not as boring as white, (although none of my rooms are white!), to unify my home!
Just beautiful!

You look lovely and your dress looks so stylish and comfortable. I usually don’t wear dresses but I’m reconsidering . So glad you are doing better.
I like wearing dresses in the summer. This one is lovely. I’m glad to see you looking so well. You must be feeling better.
Thank you. I am slowly getting back to myself.

I started my blog in 2011. Thanks for sticking with me through it all.
Good luck to you in your new home! I love to move. It feels so good to start fresh again.
Lovely outfit. I love dresses and skirts in hot weather. Hope you continue to feel better.

You look fabulous Susan! Love the little white cardigan!

Not sure why/how I did not notice before, but we have that same carpet. It is nearing 30 years old, 10×15! Just love it.
I’ve always loved that carpet too. It was my sister’s for about twenty-five years, and then I bought it from her when she redecorated.
TGT do you remember the name of the
carpet? It’s beautiful. I’d love it for my
living room.
Thanks, Kathleen
The carpet is Design Number 717 – Multicolor Panel Kirman – 8.8 x 12 Approximate Size
Yes, that is what the tag reads on my carpet as well. Manufactured by Karastan.

Enjoyed seeing the change on you. Looks great and the lipstick color is perfect.
I have four lounging dresses for the summer. They are comfortable and look so stylish with sandals on a warm day. I love the color of yours!
So you aren’t using the Countertime serum any longer?
Yes, the new one is in addition to the Countertime serum.
I have 2 long summer dresses which got a lot of compliments. I recently read that these are out of style. I haven’t been wearing them since but now I realize that I can wear them as lounging dresses. So comfortable! Thanks for the idea. I’d probably never had thought of it.

I love this dress . . . and love it on you!
I love the dress! I have one very similar ans the same color I purchased on Amazon!!

This is a lovely look. So glad you’re feeling a bit better.
For around the house I’d nix on the dangling earrings. Too dressy, love the dress, and colour and fit, Fab !!!
You look wonderful, Susan, and I love those sandals. I, too, noticed the photo behind you. I enjoy seeing your home as background while you are recovering. So happy to hear you are getting stronger and feeling better.

I love this Santiago dress from Soft Surroundings! Bought mine (teal) a year ago! You look great!
I LOVE a cute dress with POCKETS!!! I always feel overdressed with a maxi dress on to just “run around” in but there is something about adding the cardigan that to me helps.
Susan, can you tell me the brand of the grey boots you’re wearing in the post showing the grey vest? Thank you.
There is a link to them in the post. The boots are by Vince Camuto here, and they come in several colors.

I shared a post and video about that here.
I just discovered your site and I love it. You always look beautiful. I value your age-related fashion advice. Thanks so much.

Good for you, Susan! Many thanks for your response.
Very pretty! That’s your color for sure!
Susan, I wear a 38 DDD bra. Do you have a recommendation for a bra that would make me look smaller.
Here is a very comfortable option.
Hi Susan,

I LOVE this dress. Have bought 3 colors as I change sizes going down. I hope you are still wearing it.

It is a very soft, comfortable dress. I’m glad you are enjoying yours as well.
Loved the blackberry wine tank dress. The link wouldn’t response. Could you send the info again?
Very classy looks!
The dress was from Soft Surroundings a few years ago. They don’t have the solid color one anymore, but here is a print version. https://www.softsurroundings.com/p/santiago-medallion-dress/
Lovely color for you.
