Our weather is still hot and humid here, so I looked at my summer jackets when I decided what to wear last night. We were going to join friends for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the courtyard of our favorite restaurant.
Whenever I need to dress up a little for an evening event in summer, I always reach for a similar look.
A tank top and loose-fitting, lightweight pants or a cute black tank dress are the coolest and most comfortable items to wear when the temperatures are still high. That may be true, but I would never leave my home dressed that way. I am not comfortable with my arms, legs, and waistline in full view. It is way better for me to leave some things to the imagination.
I have a collection of sheer jackets that allow me to dress very comfortably for more dressy events while the temperatures are high. This one is a recent addition by Damee NYC via ShopMyFairLady.
You can see by the detailed photo that there are sheer mesh panels as part of the design. This allows me to wear a jacket but remains cool and covered at the same time.
All words and styling are my own. I no longer accept gifts and products to review.
The size of the jacket is a medium which is what I normally wear. If I wanted to wear it closed, I would order a large. The other pants I am wearing are from my company. They are size small which is the size I normally wear (4 to 6 in pants).
It is so refreshing to see someone who is covered up, not with it all hanging out. Love this post because you are showing an alternative look for warmer weather. Blue is wonderful on you!
I really enjoy your blog! Your new site is great but on the old one I was able to tap on a picture and zoom in. I would like to see your necklace better but found I can not zoom. Again, I am finding your blog to be just what I need and when I shop I think “what would Susan say?”.
I love sheer jackets for finishing a summer outfit. I have them in black on black, a blue print and a yellow geometric burnout pattern. For formal occasions, I have a couple of black burnout shawls, one with sequins and the other with velvet. They cover without added bulk, and bring the look up a notch.
That is one of the prettiest jackets I have ever seen! That shade of blue is my favorite color. I have a high school reunion coming up, and I may treat myself to it.
Hello Susan!! I discovered your original blog while searching for ideas on how to put outfits together. I have been out of work for some time now and somehow got lazy and depressed about how I dressed and looked.I’m so happy I’ve found your blog. You have inspired me into starting to eat a bit healthier. Trying to give up my beloved Pepsi is not easy. Maybe I’ll get lucky and in the process lose some weight. You also got me wanting to start putting an effort into my everyday appearance.
I wanted to dress elegantly but not matronly while still maintaining a bit of my own forgotten style and
have found Inspiration in the way you go about putting your outfits together.
Have purchased some Covered Perfectly Tops, Chicos Pants and a few items I found on sale at Macy’s and Jc Penneys. Next on my list will be one of the dresses from your collection.
I’m not a social media buff ( don’t even have Facebook) this is the first time I have left a comment. Had to let you know that you have made a difference in this short, overweight, 55 year old Latina woman.
From the bottom of my heart I wish to thank you for waking me up and showing me that at our age we still have a lot of living to do.If you are ever in my neck of the woods , would be a pleasure to meet you. From Kennesaw,Ga all my best wishes and may God bless you.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Edna. You and all the other ladies who have been too busy to think about style for the past few years are the reason I do what I do. I will never forget how hard it was to find my style rhythm again after I lost it. I certainly will publish all my visit dates when I start traveling again. In the meantime, great things are in the works!
I like the idea of a sheer jacket. I love that colour too. You look great as always. Makes me jeoulous that you are always eating and yet manage to always to look trim. Is food going in tummy or doggy bag???, ha! ha!
I must have missed this post and so glad I read it! Great ideas about the third layer for warmer weather. Even though I’m in a warm climate ((Fl), I still like a covering, especially in chilly stores or restaurants. That is a particularly lovely jacket.
How do the sizes compare to what you normally wear?

This is the necklace I am wearing in these photos.
Great look Susan, I live In Florida and think sheer jackets are genius!

love the new blog…thank you so much for sharing.
I am such a jacket fan. To me, it just polishes off a basic outfit so beautifully. As always, you look so elegant and chic in this new jacket.
