More than twelve years ago, I attended a neighborhood Christmas party that changed my life. I mixed and mingled with my new neighbors, including one who lived just a few doors away and around the corner from me. That neighbor was Mr. Mickey. A few months later, he asked me to go out to dinner with him, and we have been enjoying each other’s company since.
Wednesday evening was the anniversary of that first date, so we returned to the same restaurant, Gourmet and Company, to celebrate. We sat in the lounge area to raise a champagne toast and recall the many times we have enjoyed this ritual over the years.
When we arrived at our reserved table, already there waiting for me, was another beautiful card and a dozen red roses from Mr. Mickey. He had come by earlier in the evening to set the stage.
We shared a bowl of wild mushroom soup, which was delightful. Sometimes just a few bites of something is enough. It was vibrant.
We also shared The Jilton Vegetarian (his namesake entrée). Neither of us has a big appetite, so we often share an entrée.
My look for the evening included items I have worn many times. The pants and tank top are part of the Travelers Collection from Chico’s. The jacket with satin lapels is from Ralph Lauren. The crystal-embellished bag is old. The shoes are by Anne Klein, and they are at least ten years old. The illusion pearl necklace was a gift from Purple Poppy more than a year ago. I don’t do product reviews or advertising on my blog site, but some of my fashion friends occasionally send me gifts.
