When the calendar says fall, but the thermometer says summer, what do you wear?
Records were broken last week as our temperatures reached the nineties for the first time this late in the year. Our regular Wednesday lunch date was at Gourmet and Company, so I wore a light and flowy Clara Sunwoo top, which has high slits on the side and three-quarter length sleeves. The pants are by Lior Paris, and they have a wide, smooth waistband with small slits at the ankle. The Charles Jourdan sandals are among my all-time favorites. The Italian leather handbag was a long-ago gift from Uno Alta Volta. Given that it was so hot and the shoes and bag were such attention grabbers, I did not wear a necklace or scarf. Instead, I opted for my largest silver and crystal hoop earrings.
The Clara Sunwoo top and Lior Paris pants are both from ShopMyFairLady.com. I can’t wait to show you what else I bought for fall when the temperatures drop slightly.
We’re experiencing record breaking temperatures here in my part of Canada also and had a very hot September. It really does feel strange to wear white pants, linen shirts and open toed shoes or sandals when the leaves are falling! I haven’t even put away my summer clothes yet and have only worn a jacket once in the last few weeks.
We also have been experiencing this unprecedented heat wave in Eastern Ontario (Canada). Dressing for summer weather while the calendar says fall goes against all the principles of dressing for Autumn and is great fun and feeling just a little naughty. Summer weather here wasn’t great so really enjoying the reprieve from the anticipated cold. Love your gorgeous sandals, you look smashing as always.
Hi Susan, you look wonderful, but you always do. Thanks for all the time you put into this, I appreciate it. I have learned a lot from you. I am wondering why your blog is no longer delivered to my email. I have received it for a few yrs. and all of a sudden it stopped. Are you no longer sending it by email? I’m not on Facebook so I just google you everyday to see if there is a new post. Can you help me with this? Thanks!
Please check your Spam folder Pam. The emails sometimes land there for some reason. I still send out a notice each time I publish a new post. Thank you for your kind words.
Has been cool in am, but heats up in afternoons more than usual for this time of year in NC. It does make it harder to select what to wear..wearing dark jeans & tone on tone grey knit tunic as I had appt then groceries. Was fine when I left but really too warm for this afternoon after toting everything in; brought home my pumpkin though!
White pants are wonderful anytime. The style and color of those shoes is awesome! I like to balance the weather with my mood as I decide what to wear. Oh yeah…and comfort…the cuteness of the clothes counts too. Takes me awhile.
Susan, you are such a beautiful and classy lady! I love reading your blog. The top today is one of my favorites because I love the style and color. The shoes are “to die for” I love them – but, I would literally probably “die” if I tried to wear them. I applaud you for being able to still walk in them! Keep it up!
I dress for the weather instead of the calendar.

Your outfit is lovely, as usual. I do have to tell you that I have a longstanding crush on your purse!!! The color, the shape, sigh…….
