The Show

My casual looks frequently start with a Covered Perfectly top. They can be dressed up or down, and they are so soft. I have been wearing these tops ever since the company was started a few years ago by Pauline Durban after she couldn’t find comfortable tops that didn’t show her tummy each time she lifted her arms. Don’t you hate when that happens?

It was almost seventy degrees on this day, so I took advantage of the mild weather to wear one of my new tops from Covered Perfectly.

The top I am wearing here is the Fit and Flare in royal blue. (I also have the black one!) I added an old cotton scarf and an old knit vest from J.Jill. The straight knit pants are by Clara Sunwoo. The shoes are by Gianni Bini and have a comfortable block heel. The bag is my old standby by Calvin Klein via T.J. Maxx a couple of years ago.

  1. I would, love to have you speak to my PEO group but we’re in Kansas! I know some of my friends follow you as well. This series of outfits is perfect for me right now- I am retiring on March 3. I may work again but it will be something that is just fun! I love ❤️ the outfit and would love to find a similar vest

    1. Look for a soft simple vest in a smooth knit. I always feel more confident in a vest or a jacket. Covered Perfectly has a beautiful line of Cascading Vests. They aren’t knit but they can be worn as a scarf and tied in several creative ways.

  2. I just ordered my first Covered Perfectly tops yesterday. No surprise, the two I chose were ones you were modeling. Good luck with this next venture!

  3. I think it would be a pleasure to meet you, however, I am in central Illinois. So if you ever have business in this area…..let me know.

  4. If you are planning a trip to Arizona-please announce it. I would LOVE to meet you in person. I so look forward to your posts.

  5. You’ve been such an inspiration to me so if you’re ever within driving distance to Columbia SC I would love to attend a luncheon.

  6. I am just north of Indianapolis …. ditto Kathy’s comment about if you are ever in this area! That would be fun. I take care of my parents, in addition to a part time job. Time out for a ladies gathering is always a treat!

  7. Seattle! oh yeah, when it’s a million degrees with a million percent humidity where you are, come out here – and bring a sweater, lol. Seriously, I could/would gather a group – if you are ever out this way please let me know, I’d love to meet you.

  8. Hi Susan, Are you going to Fla. on your road trip? I will be there from Feb.24 to April 5th. Do come and speak to the older women there. I’ll be in Naples Florida, and there are a lot of older people there. I
know you would make an impression with your style and looks there. Do try to make it a stop on your trips. It would be so great to meet you. I have had that on my list for a while now.
    Looking forward to you coming.

  9. Ditto the above! I follow your blog and enjoy it tremendously. It’s really changed the way I dress and think about my appearance. Thank you so much!
I live in Central Florida and am a PEO, too. We would love to have you speak to our group or I could get a group together in my home or church. Just let me know when you might be in the area.

  10. I’m wearing that same top today, along with one of the Shapeez Ultimates that you also recommended. You and Mr. Mickey should get out the Roadster and head to Texas. Would love to spend time with you in person.

  11. I’m in Knoxville! I would love to meet you and hear your fashion wisdom in person. Love the way you wear your clothing and get good use of it before purchasing more. Also, I’ve been inspired by the diet changes you’ve made and the journey to improve your life in so many ways. You are such a help to all of us ladies who are trying to figure it out and keep it real.

  12. Susan, you are a shining example of “aging gracefully” Beautiful inside & out. I’m sure you will be welcomed in all 50 states…including Puerto Rico, where I’m from!

  13. A Covered Perfectly top in royal blue, your colour, how perfect.
I’m in the UK, a bit far to pop over for a chat over coffee!!

  14. Do I love that vibrant color! Wow! It is beautiful on you. I’d love to join you, but live too far away. Have fun ladies!

  15. Thank you for a lovely, informative site. You have inspired me to dress for myself and how it makes me feel.

IMy friend and I recently found your site and love reading your blog each day. We have incorporated many of your ideas into our wardrobe. My friend lives in Daytion and I live in Richmond Virginia. If you could come to any of those locations, we would love to meet you on your tour

    Thank you- Sharon Walker

  17. Will you be publishing an itinerary of which cities you plan to visit and when? I would like to see if you are going to be anywhere near where I live (Missouri) so I can check into possibly attending, if it’s not too far to travel.

    1. I will promote and publish the dates and locations well in advance of the events so that you will have a chance to plan to attend. These will happen as I can work them into my schedule. (I am still running two companies so I won’t be able to travel as much as I would like to for now.)

  18. We would love to see you here in the Detroit area if that works with your traveling schedule. Please keep us posted. It would be a pleasure to finally meet you after following your blog for a few years now. Good luck with “taking your show on the road”.

  19. I’ve been following your blog for a while now, even the older one Fifty Not Frumpy. I just wanted to say that I think you have an amazing sense of personal style and what looks good on your shape. You look beautiful and current without being trendy. Although my shape is completely different from yours (I’m a pear), I’ve been inspired by your style. With skinny jeans being all the rage for the past several years it was somewhat difficult for me to come to terms that these are not the best silhouette on my body. Your blog has inspired me as a 50 year old, pear shaped woman with naturally silver hair to take the things, such as bootcut jeans, that look good on me and make them look current and not frumpy. Thank you for your blog! You’re beautiful!

  20. Your “on the road show” sounds great…will be interested to see your itinerary. We will be in FL, for this one…hopefully, one day,
I can catch one of them…
