Creative Styling

Do you always wear your plain white shirt in the same few ways? I’ve worn this long tunic shirt as a swimsuit coverup, but it also goes great with leggings, sneakers, and a black tank for my morning walk. I’ve worn it over straight-leg jeans with a quilted vest and short boots for a casual Saturday afternoon look. Today, I’m styling it in a more dressed-up look with heeled sandals, slim-fitting slacks, and elevated accessories.

Turning up the sleeves, popping the collar, and buttoning only two buttons at the bodice shows enough of the body to keep the long shirt from overwhelming my 5’5″ frame. Adding bold silver earrings, a bracelet, and a domed ring with crystals keeps the eye moving from head to toe.

The website shows the tunic styled casually, but don’t let that limit your creativity. Part of the joy of owning great basics is the endless possibilities of wearing them differently each time.

The Organic Cotton Weekend Tunic is here. The bag is here. The other items are from previous seasons or years. Shopping links might allow me to earn a small commission, but it will never cost you more.

If I swapped the heeled sandals for low-heeled tan sandals and the bag for a straw tote, I would have yet another casual look for warm weather.

Thank you for your donations, prayers, and all the efforts to restore and rescue those in the flood-affected areas. In the past week, I have seen more Black Hawk helicopters than during my entire four-year US Navy career.

One of my friends was driving on Highway 26 as military trucks passed through on their way to Erwin. She noticed one lone man who had pulled over to the shoulder and stood by his vehicle to salute the passing soldiers. She drove with tears in her eyes for the next few miles.

  1. Miss Susan, You look sharp this morning! (Well, it’s morning to me ;-)) This is a look that I will emulate as I rebuild my wardrobe after weight loss.

So, so happy to hear that supplies are getting to the folks who need them. I have tears in my eyes as I read the account of the man who saluted the military trucks. Boy howdy, getting out the vote is a must. You are so right…”our vote is our voice.”
