Wonderful post. Beautiful pics. Love the items. May plan to go there.
Kind regards, Wilma
That black dress! Wow, just wow!
Beautiful pictures! Looks wonderful there. You look glowing and refreshed. I’m loving your hair. So happy you love the earrings!
Love it! You always look so polished and put together. Thank you for sharing
Such a lovely community! Certainly can see why you’d want to spend time there. Loved the simplicity of your outfits. Simple but classy.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful town. I’d love walking and seeing the homes and gardens. Your pictures are lovely and love it’s on the Bay too! Great place for a weekend visit.
You are a natural beauty. No make up needed.
Your wardrobe is perfection. And what a beautiful area. I can easily see why you fell in love with it.
Wow Susan your hair looks fantastic air dried-more natural, more youthful, more modern.
Are Beauty Counter products still available? Also please showcase some outfits appropriate for a courtroom appearance. Thank you.
Beautycounter products are supposed to be available again on their website as of October.
If I had a court appearance, I would wear professional-looking business attire in neutral, solid colors, conservative heels, and small jewelry.
Wow it looks beautiful there.I thought your first comment would be is “I am moving..
What a beautiful area! I love your clothing choices. As always, you look elegant and perfectly attired. Thank you for showing us another fantastic place to visit. Wishing you a lovely week.
so beautiful, feel as if I were walking with you
I love Edenton. They have wonderful tours of historic homes.
Spring tour in April and another one in December which has
lovely Christmas decorations. You can call the Barker House
for exact dates. I hope you get to one of the tours.
The area all looks wonderful as you do too. I love the fact that you have combined older pieces with some new items. Love the white linen dress. Looking forward to part 3. Thank you Susan
You look so beautiful on your travels. Thanks for sharing . I want to go to that town. The cottage is adorable too.
Wow! You look fabulous. Been following you for years and you keep looking better and better! Whatever you’re doing for health and wellness, don’t stop!
Enjoyed the photo tour. What a beautiful part of the country I never knew existed.
You look lovely makeup free but I feel uncomfortable without my brows, lip gloss and a touch of something on my eyes. I’m thankful for good skin care that has allowed me to go foundation free but I still need a little touch here and there. Since allowing my gray to shine I too can, for the first time in my life, allow my hair to “freestyle.” Your trip looks enchanting.
Lovely town!
Elegant as usual Susan. The linen outfits are gorgeous. What a beautiful little town and the gardens are so perfect. I absolutely love the teapot on the fence post that is so cute.
God Bless you and Mr Mickey.

How nice to see this post, Susan…it is a delightful spot. Hubby and I spent an Anniversary weekend there years ago. You triggered sweet memories, as my dear, sweet Ed passed away last July. So glad you enjoyed Edenton, too. Now, for another “Solo trip”…at some point…you might consider a trip “down memory lane” to Norfolk. (You were so close when in OBX…).I would love to take you on a Tour to wherever you would like to revisit…hugs, Suzanne
I’m so sorry for your loss, Suzanne.
Susan, I haven’t visited Edenton in years! It’s looks just as magical as I remember. Thank you for the trip down memory lane! I’m looking forward to Part 3!
Thank you for taking us along on your travels. Your photos of the area are wonderful!
Love your travels! Looks amazing and peaceful. Thanks for sharing!
Where is Mr. Mickey?
He is at home.
You always look lovely with or without makeup. I don’t wear makeup in hot weather, I put on lipstick and sunglasses and off I go! Thank you for sharing your trip, what a pretty place!
Hi Susan, Thank you for sharing pictures of your lovely travel adventures. Would you please provide the details on the hats you are wearing? Several years ago it seems you mentioned a hat you like that is packable. Would you please share any details? Thank you.
Here is the packable roll up hat I’ve been buying for years. I get them in duplicates whenever I can find them. Here is also a great roll up style hat.
That is a beautiful place! You look like you’re having a wonderful time.
Hi Susan,
Edenton looks lovely, the pictures are appreciated.
Thank you for taking us along on your journey.
I admire that you feel comfortable traveling alone. It’s your down time right?
It is my downtime both mentally and physically. I have always enjoyed solitude.
gee, what a very beautiful town you visited. I think I could be very happy living there
Thank you so much Susan, you are so kind to share your travels.
It’s freezing winter here in NZ and while beautiful, the weather makes walking outdoors a bit of an extra effort.
You look beautiful and relaxed.
Go you!!
xx
Oh what a place so full of character, I have fallen in love with the smaller home at the waters edge it’s perfect. I just love it when you share your travels and show us stunning scenery and architecture of America, whether you are alone or with Mr Mickey. I too find peace in solitude but I also love the company of loving family and friends as I know you do too. Thank you Susan.
Regards Pamela UK
Lovely place to visit!
You look beautiful and the photos are wonderful.
With all the heat you were out in I wonder if you launder your clothes during your travel?
We are looking at staying a couple of nights around Thanksgiving at vineyard you wrote about recently before going on to visit Monticello in Charlotesville. We live near you in Asheville so we have visited some of your other travel locations.
Luckily, the cottage had a laundry room, so I could do a load. When I stay in VRBOs, they usually have a washer and dryer.
The black outfit is really nice. I’m tempted to order it and the shoes too.
Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing.
What a magical place! Thanks for sharing.
What a lovely town. You look so good in a hat. My daughter recently moved down South to Ladys Island.
Such a beautiful part of the country and she loves the charming and graceful people she has met.
Beautiful photos! The town is so quaint. I just love older architecture. You look fabulous as always. I especially love the black vest & skirt.
I had never heard of Edenton but your photos are so wonderful it is now on my radar – they should be paying you for your ambassador work on their behalf! Just lovely – thank you for the alert to a beautiful place I did not know about until now.
What a nice town. You do look very nice in your casual no makeup look. I agree when it’s very warm just be natural especially with your hair. Thanks for sharing. I like what you said about solitude. I also enjoy some alone time.
Beautiful looks and places
You look very pretty & carefree in the white outfit. Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
You look beautiful, even with the heat! I adore that jumpsuit. I may need to add that to my wardrobe. Thanks for showing such wonderful places to visit. We have booked a stay at Omni Grove Park Inn for a little R & R this fall based on your recommendations.
What a beautiful town. Do they have fine restaurants, or is it basically tea rooms and coffee shops?
I don’t eat dinner when I travel but here are the 10 best restaurants in Edenton. Some of the restaurants have closed, so please check before you go. I had a delightful fresh salad for lunch at Downtown Roots in Edenton.
Take me with you on your next visit!!!!!
Susan,
Thank you for sharing this lovely town. How genuine of you to share the challenges of humidity and to go with the flow. I have curly hair that I sometimes style with a blow dyer. However if I am near the coast, any coast it’s just no use. I am now embracing the curl and life is much easier. Do you travel with a photographer? Or are you setting these up on a tri-pod? I love your elegant style my goal is to lose enough weight to emulate it more. I am on my way. Yay! Ounce by ounce.
Looking forward to your next installment.
Cristi
I travel alone and use a tripod and the timer on my camera to take my photos.
This Part II of your travels has brought some wonderful memories of this precious little town. I’m saving so I can show my husband the pictures of places that we’ve been to….this little town where he lived for the first 2 years of his life and his mother lived in from birth until she moved with her family to Louisiana in 1949. Thank you for sharing………
What a beautiful place to vacation! I see that sweet little girl in your face. Thank you for sharing!
The photos are great and Edenton looks like a place I’d love to visit. I’m going with two friends to Ashville early November to see the Biltmore at Christmas. Recommendations for downtown Ashville? A couple style questions that you may or may not want to address in your blog.
1. I see you wearing sleeveless and you look great. I’m reluctant to wear sleeveless at my age (77) sue to crepe skin. Suggestions?
2. You said you don’t wear makeup in the hot temps. I live in Florida where the entire summer is sweltering. You don’t look lined or blotchy without makeup. Any secrets to share with us? I still wear some base and powder in the heat but don’t want to accentuate my wrinkles. I haven’t considered botox because of health concerns and expense. I’m asking God to help me be ok with aging naturally.
I always look forward to your blogs 🙂
I no longer go to downtown Asheville, but I enjoy the Biltmore and Grove Park Inn.
1. I also have crepey skin, but I know no one is looking at my arms, so I just roll with it.
2. I still use skin care products; I just don’t put any makeup on because I know it will not be attractive as it melts and flakes, making all my flaws show even more. Mascara and eyeliner make a mess under my eyes, so I wear sunglasses and let it be. I do not get Botox or any other such procedures.
Making peace with ourselves and being grateful for every day is so much healthier than fighting the inevitable.
You travel to the most interesting places, historic and full of quaint shops. Solo travel is something I enjoy every so often. Downtime is refreshing to me.
Your clothes are stylish and fresh-looking even in hot weather. The no-makeup look appeals to me in hot weather but lightly tinted sunscreen and lipstick are needed for a bit of color for my light complexion.
I’m enjoying your posts and have learned a lot from you. Thanks!
Enjoy your lovely surroundings.
I love everything about this post! You look radiant and relaxed in that absolutely idyllic, beautiful town. Your choice of clothing and footwear is perfect. I love that necklace and can see it would go with so many different outfits. I also like that the website provides demonstrations of the six ways it can be worn. I think it’s a must have! Thanks for the $10 off code.
Looking forward to more of your vacation posts!
Air dry is ALWAYS the way to go! (And looks wonderful; no need for all the styling — )
Your pictures are breathtaking. I loved them all. Thank you,
It has been a year since your health challenges, and I hope everything is still well. Do you still not take any medications or supplements? And I hope Mr. Mickey is doing well also.
I am well and Mr Mickey is in the middle of his six treatments. I will need to take the medicine for four more years.
Love following your travels and descriptions. Beautiful town and historic places. Thanks so much for sharing.
Susan,
You always exude sich beauty, grace and style. What beauty routine and makeup line are you using while Beauty Counter reorganizes?
Thank you,
Kelly
Be sure to read my next post. I will share everything.
Wonderful photos Susan! It looks like a great place to visit. I love all your clothing selections too. It sure has been a hot steamy summer. Looks like you’re doing well at “keeping it cool!”
Every time I see your newest travel video I think, boy would I love to tag along with this gal! The places you visit and the styles you sport are right up my alley! Let me know if you ever decide to engage a travel buddy! I’m ready!
Lovely pictures of your travels. Miss seeing Mr. Mickey.
I enjoy traveling vicariously through you. Please keep on traveling and posting!
Absolutely lovely photos! Charming town.
Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for posting your beautiful photos with everyone. I really enjoy being able to ‘travel’ with you.
I always enjoy your posts but never comment. However I fell in love with the white linen blend dress and had to have it which usually happens when I read your blogs. Thank you for all the great ideas on fashion and your beautiful photography on nature.
Hello to Mr Mickey.
Thank you for the lovely comments, Deborah.
Susan thank you for sharing your lovely photos & locations to visit. I looked into the black jumpsuit as it visually appeals to me however read that it is polyester. Does it not make you feel hot & clammy in the heat?
Since it is very lightweight and pleated, I didn’t feel hot at all. The word polyester also gave me pause, but all of the accordion pleat garments I’ve found are made from polyester.
What a beautiful little town that I’ve never heard of. Thanks for sharing! You are brave to keep at it in that heat, taking rests and showers in between.
I love this place even though I’ve never been. It’s on my bucket list. I think I will have to start traveling solo, too. I’m nervous about it, but I know it’s something I must do! I think you have given tips in the past. If possible, could you please reference those old posts? I need a refresher . PS. I love your hair dried like that! I remember when you wore it like that. PSS. I won that same necklace from you a few years back. I have worn it sooo much . Good to see you here again.
This may be he post you are thinking of. It’s good to hear from you again!
