We spent the 4th of July holiday in downtown Asheville enjoying a light breakfast and later a couple of truffles from The Chocolate Fetish. Coconut is our favorite!
We strolled the busy sidewalks, window shopped and watched people, listened to street performers, and enjoyed Pack Square Park activities before we visited the Biltmore Estate.
The Biltmore Estate Gardens and Conservatory are my happy places. I so enjoy seeing all the unique tropical plants, especially the orchids.
A folded scarf draped around my neck while in air-conditioned spaces makes a huge difference. I almost always carry one with me.
We enjoyed the most delicious dinner at The Bistro in Antler Village. Mr. Mickey declares the freshly made bread is epic.
He had the grouper, and I shared my pecan encrusted trout with him. It was so good!
We also shared a coconut cream pound cake dessert.
My look for the day included a navy Clara Sunwoo top from My Fair Lady here. The white ankle jeans are here. The orange bag is from last year (similar here). The Ralph Lauren shoes are from last year. (Similar here) My coin and link chain bracelet is here.
The restaurant visible in the background of thefirst and last photos, The Laughing Seed, is our favorite restaurant in North Carolina! It has absolutely wonderful vegan and vegetarian cuisine. We have driven a hundred miles out of our way to eat there. Thanks for the good memories.
Isn’t it wonderful when you find a place where you feel all of your stress release the moment you enter? And how does one make a vegetarian Rueben?? I love a good Rueben but the meat is too fatty.
They use a plant-based “meat.” The description from their menu, Grilled and marinated “pastrami” style dry rubbed tempeh, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, house-made purple kraut, and Thousand Island dressing on Annie’s grilled marble rye.
Sooo lovely! Thank you for taking us along on your little getaways. Everything you share about where you live makes me want to move there. I have a random question…in the summer is it acceptable to go without hose for most occasions that aren’t formal. People tend to dress in a very casual manner here.
What en enjoyable post! I love your posts on travel and food as well as fashion. Biltmore is one of my favorite places to visit, too. Keep the lovely blogs coming and thank you for them!!!
I ADORE Asheville! I live in Michigan but my brother and his husband live in Spartanburg SC and introduced me to Asheville a few years back. I’ve visited Biltmore a few times including the Chihuly exhibit last summer. How lucky you are to live in such a beautiful area. And no trip to Asheville is complete without a visit to the Chocolate Fetish!
Your haircut is really adorable! I love the gardens at Biltmore. I’d like to have a couple of those potted plants for my front porch!:)

We love to eat there too! Best vegetarian Rueben ever!

Is that a dollhouse in the greenhouse? It looks magnificent!
Miniature trains were traveling through the plants past miniature Biltmore landmarks.

People are very casual here too. I rarely ever see a woman wearing hose.
Thank you so much, Susan! I truly appreciate your generosity in taking the time to answer my questions. Blessings. ☀️
Oh, gosh, Susan! You always bring us so much beauty! Thank you, thank you! Much needed today….
You look lovely. I would love to go to Asheville someday.
Susan,
We love Biltmore! Thank you for the beautiful pictures. Is your purse orange or coral? It’s hard to tell from their website.
My bag is orange.
