The Wisteria Top

The lavender top hanging on the rack in the previous post generated many requests for more information and pictures, so today, I’m showing you how it looks with white jeans. The color is wisteria, and the top is on sale here. I am wearing a size medium.

I had planned to wear the blouse with a camisole, but my Shapeez bra (here) worked perfectly. Nude foundations under white pants and sheer tops barely show if they match your skin color. My best lip color with the blouse is Orchid Cool Berry here. The white ankle jeans are here. The nude slides are by Vince Camuto from last year.

I took photos in full sun and shade to test the see-through factor.

I owned very few lightweight summer tops to wear when we have lunch or dinner with friends, so I’ve made an effort to add a few this year. I love the color and texture of this silk blouse, and I’m sure I will wear it often.

  1. Susan, thank for all your posts and for sharing with us all your knowledge. Personally, I have learned a lot from you. Thanks!!!
The silk blouse is beautiful. I purchase it.
I love your earrings, they complemented the top.
    Many blessings,

  2. What a beautiful top! Thank you for showing us. I love the color and embroidery. I completely agree that you do not need a camisole beneath it. Your bra is quite sufficient for modesty and the flesh tone makes it practically invisible.

  3. Susan, I notice that you wear the sleeves pushed up. The website shows them at full wrist length. You’ve worn your sleeves this way with other garments as well (sorry, can’t remember which ones or where to look back, but the memory is pretty clear). Any comments on this preference?

  4. Perfect color for your silvery-white locks and baby blues, and I’ve always been partial to eyelet! I am so grateful for your blog. Nobody out there (for us over 60) does it better!

  5. I love the new “YOU” with some pastel colors. The lighter colors make you look so soft and pretty. Very feminine but also chic as well. But then, you could wear a gunny sack and make it look good (that is a compliment).
Thanks for the explanations you give with your outfits as it makes me at least, realize why some things are better than others depending on body shapes, etc. Using nude intimate garments underneath white tops or pants, is something I have been doing for a long time but nice to know you do the same and for the same reason.

May you and Mr. Mickey have a fabulous summer and I for one will look forward to the “NEW” adventures in clothing you will share.

  6. The lilac blouse is very pretty on you with color of your hair and skin tone.
Question, not sure if I missed in a previous post, are you still looking to buy your own home again? I figure you have some new decorating for maybe a down sized home.

  7. The blouse is exquisite! I love the color and the embroidery. It certainly compliments your coloring. The price is excellent and if it came in petites I’d order it too.
I’m so glad you are contented for the time being.
We are nearly ready to put our home on the market. We haven’t found our downsized house yet, but I’m sure there’s one out there that will be just right. We’re so looking forward to a more simple life. I can almost feel the burden of a large house lifting already.
    Have a lovely week.

    1. Thank you, Lynne. Ironically, I’ve used the word contented to describe myself lately more often than ever. I hope you and your husband find the home that fits your needs and enjoy it immensely.

  8. Susan, what a beautiful color and style on you! I’m sure this will be a summer staple for several years.

  9. Just lovely in lavender! Your smile shows your happiness! I think I need this blouse too. Thanks!

  10. Susan, you should wear lavender every day, you’re glowing! I have followed you for a few years and have learned so much. I think of my wardrobe so differently now and only buy with careful thought. Enjoy your summer and your new home with Mr. Mickey. Looking forward to more of your adventures & fashion tips for us mature women!

  11. You need to wear colors in this pallet more often Susan! You really pop in this color. You look beautiful.

  12. Where do you find the tops that are not so long? It seems the style is the longer tops and they do not look good on me?

    1. I found this one and a couple of other recent tops that are standard length at White House Black Market, Banana Republic, and their factory stores. Click on the links in the post’s text to go directly to the items.

  13. Love the blouse, but it is out of stock, as are several others selections at WHBM
Thank you for your wonderful blog!

  14. You look lovely in lavender. I tried to order the silk shirt and it was already sold out!! Will look for a similar one on their website.
Would you explain body shapes? I think I am a pear shape and it hard to find flattering clothes at times. Thanks for all your advise.

    1. If your hips are the widest part of your body, you likely have a pear shape. Shorter fitted tops and jackets that stop below your tummy will be more flattering than those that stop on the line of your hips or below them. Also, dark color solids on the bottom and brighter tops will look good on you.

  15. Thank you so much for this information. I will begin to shop for appropriate items. Your blogs make me smile.

  16. Dear Susan,
As I recall, you have mentioned that you have a favorite tank top to wear….. could you please refresh my memory? Thank you so much.

  17. Beautiful color ! Thank you for all the clothing, health and food tips , also love the occasional book recommendations as well !
