Wine, Women & Shoes

The annual Wine Women & Shoes event to benefit the Ballad Health Foundation took place on Saturday. The event helps to improve access to and affordability of breast cancer screenings for women in the region. I served as one of the shoe judges along with Angela Baker, the Publisher of VIPSeen Magazine.

Above, I am visiting with my beautiful friend Krista Matthews Wharton owner of Monkee’s of Johnson City before all the excitement began.

Suzanne Burritt McKinney is a follower of the blog and the designer of the fabulous line of jewelry, Beauty In Stone Jewelry.

I always enjoy visiting with my talented friend Alexandria W. Alli designer of F&W Style. Her fabulous handbags are of excellent quality and timeless in style. I want to buy them all!

Shoe Guys include men from the community who are somehow connected to women supporting the event. They hand out wine glasses, help guests throughout the event, and also raise money for the event. A King of Sole title is awarded to the man who raises the most money for the benefit.

My look for the event included a white layered V-neck tank from Express with white pants by Lior Paris from My Fair Lady. The jacket is a couple of years old and it is from White House|Black Market. The gray handbag is also from Express. The shoes are by Charles Jourdan a few years ago. My affiliate link for the French Kande pearl necklace is here.

My sincere thanks to Mr. Mickey for giving up his Saturday to take these photos for you and for generously supporting the Ballad Health Foundation.

  1. You were a perfect choice as a shoe judge.
From the photos, it looks like a beautiful bunch of ladies and wonderful men having a great time.
I appreciate you and Mr. Mickey allowing us to attend also.

  2. Looks like a wonderful evening, and for a really cause too. I am a cancer survivor and appreciate all the work the volunteers do for the community. Love how all the women are dressed beautifully. Thanks for sharing, Susan.

  3. What’s really awesome to me is that you’re in the center of all this attention and you dressed with items from your closet that are a few years old. No struggling and stress to find the perfect, new trendy outfit.

  4. What a nice event! You looked so elegant and so do the other ladies. The shoes are outstanding and I see you rose to the occasion with a stunning pair of your own. I’ve commented on the white pants before. They make an outfit look so fresh and attractive. I have several pairs and need to wear them more frequently. Thanks to you and Mr. Mickey for sharing!

  5. Susan you look elegant, fresh, and stylish! Love the shoes as well, and like the comment above, you live by your advice….you wore clothes already in your closet to look effortless and beautiful! Love it!

  6. What a great community event, judged by a beautiful, outstanding community supporter! The men all look so cute. Wish I could have been in two places at once this weekend. Those cupcakes! Who made them? The handbags are gorgeous! I just signed on to the website! The magazine cover is perfect. Susan, your blog is a blessing to us all. Thank you!

  7. As always you look beautiful! I recall that you use Beauty Counter products. I have been considering trying them. But , I am never sure what products I need when viewing something online. Maybe you could help!! I am 59 and have oily skin. What basic skincare products would you recommend? Thanks for you help!

    1. My skin is oily in the summer and dry in the winter. In the summer I switch to the products below including The Balancing Facial Mask here.

      ITEM NO PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
      3027 Charcoal Cleansing Bar
      1011 Nourishing Cream Cleanser
      1012 Nourishing Cream Exfoliator
      1014 Nourishing Day Cream
      1050 Lip Conditioner in Peppermint

  8. What I realized here is how truly ageless you are. The pink sash is actually a very good color for you. I’m sure you must have a scarf in that color. Love the Charles Jourdan shoes!

Most of all, your philanthropic efforts are so admirable. Mr. Mickey took great pictures, too!

  9. Hi Susan, Today, I took a moment to check out your new posts. However, I accidentally clicked on my saved link to your former “Fifty not Frumpy” blog, and was taken to the last post. I didn’t initially realize I was on the previous blog, and my first thought was, “what happened to her hair?” Then, I realized my mistake, and jumped over to your newer “Susan After 60” blog. Wow, your new hair style is so much more flattering! You actually look younger now! Comparing the two really shows how your newer style improves your image! You are so smart to make changes for the better, instead of just doing the same thing! I am inspired. Thanks, and keep up the good work 🙂

  10. Every one looks very beautiful. What a fun looking event and for a great cause. Keep up the good work.

I blogged for five years as Fifty, not Frumpy. Now that I am in my sixties, I am honoring this new decade with a great new website and shop SusanAfter60.com
