The Garden Club Luncheon

If you have been following me for a while, you know that one of the Christmas season highlights for me is to attend the Hill and Dale Garden Club luncheon with my dear friend Rose.

Friends are flowers in the garden of life. I may not be able to stop the downpour, but I will certainly join you for a walk in the rain.

Shirley and her beautiful granddaughter McKenize, who has been member of the Hill & Dale Garden Club since she was three. Each year Mackenzie gets to choose the matching looks she and her grandmother will wear.

I wore a comfortable red tunic by IC Collection from ShopMyFairLady.com. The leggings are by Hue via Dillard’s. The handbag is old by Tahari via T.J.Maxx. The coat is old from Loft. The boots are by BCBGeneration.

Many of you are spending the holidays in warmer climates, and you have asked for tips on what to wear to festivities when a sweater or jacket is just too much. Stay tuned!

  1. Love that tunic! Not to be nosy, but what kind of bra do you wear with it to keep the straps where they belong? Or have you found a really comfy strapless one?

  2. I like that the cut out detail is in the back rather than the front. It makes it dressier without revealing the chest area.

  3. Reading your blog has made me braver in my clothing choices, last night I went to a retires banquet wearing a tunic/dress about as long as your tunic and black tights with heels. Before I would have thought I was too old at 65 to dress like that.
    We had fun

  4. Thank you so much for sharing the photos from the garden club luncheon. I enjoyed seeing what everyone was wearing, especially Shirley and Mackenzie. Loved the cutout detail in the back of your Clara Sunwoo tunic. I also have to applaud Brenda for following one of your examples and wearing a tunic/dress with tights; I bet she looked wonderful. I have thought of doing the same thing.

  5. I agree with commenter, Brenda. I’m putting together different looks that I never thought were possible til you show us, Susan! Your blog is invaluable to me as I never want to look like an old lady! (I’m a youthful 71.)

  6. Love the back interest in your top! So much fun to see a gala event up close. The decorations were beautiful!
I hope you don’t mind me thanking you again for getting me out of my clothing rut. I retired 6 years ago and decided colorful tees and jeans were my uniform. The tees were all the same! I wore them everyday! My wardrobe now is up to date and has a lot of variety. No frump here!

  7. Beautiful occasion always; thanks for sharing. Great to see Rose again; she and you look great. Where was the venue?

  8. Everyone looks like they I having a great time. If I were there I would be dressed in the red white fur trimmed sweater or a Christmas sweater. I may look a bit dorky but I adore those sweaters especially if hand knitted.
