Taos Footwear

Numerous readers have shared how comfortable Taos shoes are, so I am happy to collaborate with the brand today. Taos Footwear has a highly loyal fan base and has built its following due to the reputation as a staple of comfort balanced with style.

Taos’ signature anatomically designed footbeds are both supportive and comfortable. The Curves & Pods® design is a removable footbed that contours to hug the foot and provide shock absorption in every step. The Cool Recovery Foam® footbed features a proprietary gel memory foam for all-day cooling comfort. Comfort and style are integral to all Taos boots, clogs, and sandals.

I am wearing the Crave Leather Boots in gray found here.

Styling Tip: Leggings, jeggings, or ankle pants are perfect to pair with moto-style boots so as not to add bulk around the ankles. A thin turned up cuff gives my ankle jeans the correct length so that the hem of the pants do not conflict with the top of the boots.

Today in America, we are observing Veterans Day. This day is set aside to honor military veterans in the United States Armed Forces. Mr. Mickey and I are proud veterans. Etched in the granite at the Veteran’s Memorial outside the Mountain Home VA campus are our names (and two of Mr. Mickey’s brothers).

The setting for today’s photos was the grounds of the Mountain Home campus.

  1. Thank you for your service, and Mr. Mickey, too…what an interesting person you are!

Love the boots! Thanks for the tip on Taos!

  2. Beautiful setting. Thank you, Mr. Mikey and his brothers for your service to our country. We owe our freedom to all veterans.

  3. Thank you for your service. To serve in the military is one of the most unselfish acts a person can perform. The stone memorial is nice in that you can see your names while alive.

  4. Thank you and Mr. Mickey for your service!

I would like to see your remaining scarves
Also, I love the boots, and looked at them on line, but was wondering if they have a wide ?

  5. Yes, thank you for your service! And thanks to Mr. Mickey and his brothers! I have a pair of Taos Trulie sandals. They are a bit expensive, but I have very hard to fit feet and when I find shoes that feel good, I buy them! What’s great about them is that the straps are not only adjustable at the ankle, but they are adjustable across the toes as well! They have good arch support. I am hesitant to buy shoes online because of the fit. I found my sandals at a shoe store at my local mall.

  6. When we last visited my sister and brother in law in Jonesborough, we went to Mountain Home and were there when volunteers were laying wreaths on the graves. Being the daughter, wife, and mother of a veteran, I was moved to tears. It is very beautiful.

  7. Serving in tbe military is an unselfish act and my thanks to you Susan, Mr Mickey and his brothers for your service to keep us safe.
    What a beautiful place!

  8. Susan, am wanting to know the brand/style of the bag in this post. It appears to not be either shown. I really like the wider strap.
Love this post. Very informative for the Taos brand and boot style so fitting for this day! Thanks – look forward to each post.

  9. Thank you for your service.
My grandfather was a WWI field surgeon on the Western Front in France & Belgium. He was American but joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1914 and served with them until 1919. He served at Ypres, the Somme and Amiens.
My late Dad served for 40 years (USAAC, USAF). He was at Hickam Field, near Pearl Harbor, on Dec. 7th, 1941, participating in the beginning of the US entry into WWII. Dad served as a combat B-24 bombardier/navigator (50 bombing missions in Europe, including bombing the Ploesti refineries in Operation Tidal Wave); in Korea (B-29 combat bombardier/navigator); and, in Vietnam (two combat tours) before retiring. His detailed diary from WWII is a very sobering view of the daily life of war.
Veterans are honored every day in our family.
    Again, thank you.

  10. Thank you, Mr. Mickey, and his brothers for their service to our country. Thank you and Mr Mickey for the service you provide through this blog as well. I turned 70 in June and was not happy about my look. I made a few starts on reworking my wardrobe and tried new skin care products. Then I discovered your blog. It’s making a world of difference. I feel comfortable and am receiving compliments. What a wonderful service for us to have as we transition through life’s changes.

  11. This is the note I sent to some of our friends (and my husband, who was a Marine):

Please accept my heart-felt thanks to all of you for your service. I love the freedoms that the USA provides all of us and I don’t take them for granted. Roger & I have traveled to many countries in the world, and we can see the differences in foreign countries and the USA. I know that all of you have worked to preserve our freedoms and kind of government we have, with your service in our armed forces. THANK YOU !

  12. Here in Canada we observe Remembrance Day and thank the Canadian and American service members. Myself and family were liberated in Holland WW2.
Now I am 78 and enjoy your style and fashion tips on Pinterest.
Am very interested in the scarves and tank tops you present but not sure if you ship to Canada?

    1. I cannot speak for the tops, but Susan definitely ships to Canada. I have 4 of her beautiful scarves and live in Toronto.

  13. So happy to see you wearing Taos boots. I purchased them this year in a dark burgundy, tossed the box so don’t know the exact color name. I have been buying Taos shoes for several years, happy with every pair.. With the boots, I usually wear straight leg jeans, they fit right over the top.
    I enjoy your blog,
    Sandy

  14. Lovely fall pictures! Taos shoes are my all time favorite stylish and comfortable shoes! I have narrow feet and need extra arch support now. These shoes fit well and I can walk in them for hours. Try their “sneaker style” shoes that come in multiple colors Susan. Your casual outfit is very cute!

  15. Would you share a little about your service? It must have been during the Viet Nam conflict. And Mr Mickey ? Korea?
My 92 year old father is a WWII vet. Still going strong.

  16. I love my Taos boots! They are just like yours only in blue! So comfortable and a “cool” style! I’ve had mine for 2 years now!

  17. Taos shoes are great; I also really love their sister brand Wanda Panda. They don’t offer a huge selection but the sandals in particular are of excellent quality and comfortable from the first wearing.

  18. Thanks to you both for your service! It’s always been a regret of mine that I didn’t enlist and serve my country in the military. My dad served in WWII in the Navy and my grandfather served in WWI in the Navy as well. My husband is an Air Force Veteran.

Thanks for the intro to Taos shoes….I’m going to investigate them.

And the setting for story today is just stunning!

  19. Happy Veterans Day to you and Mr. Mickey. It was also my Mom’s birthday (now in heaven). Thanks for the lovely pictures and a heads up on the Taos boots. I like to wear Chico’s boyfriend or girlfriend ankle jeans with my taller boots. I can cuff them like you’ve shown or leave them as they are since the jeans are a little shorter than I normally wear since I am tall. Thank you again for the posts and for your service to our country.

  20. Many thanks, Susan, to you and Mr Mickey for your service and sacrifices while serving our nation. It is appreciated every day!

  21. Susan,

I thank you and Mr. Mickey for your Service to our country!
God bless you both…and God bless America!

    Mary Ann

  22. Thank you for sharing this news about your role in the military. I agree with the reader above who mentioned that it is nice for you and Mr Mickey to see your names listed now for your contribution to your country.
You have mentioned that you are open to suggestions from your readers for blog topics. I have had to wear glasses since I was a kid. Could you do a blog on choosing glasses frames to suit various shapes of faces? Thanks, Susan, for writing the most useful blog for +50 women that I have found on the Internet!

  23. I have the exact same pair of Taos boots in black and I wear them when we ride our Harley-Davidson trike. They are pretty comfortable. Thank you so much for your service to our country!

  24. Thank you all for your service. One of my regrets in life is that I didn’t serve my country. I’m proud of you for stepping up and serving in our Navy.

  25. You look great in combat boots. When I heard they were trending, I remembered the insults that flew around on TV shows in the seventies. Like this one “Your Mama wears combat boots”. Well, Mama is about to wear combat boots. I like them and love the support they give the foot. These are on my Chridtmas list.

  26. Thank you for serving our country and the freedom we enjoy. Mr. Mickey, his brothers and you are true patriots strong and free.

  27. Thank you Susan for your service to our country. So glad I have found your blog as you give great advice. Please send me information on your remaining scarves.

  28. Adorable outfit for fall! What a beautiful location for a photo shoot and in my favorite state of Virginia! We live in the Fredericksburg region. Good restaurants and lots of Civil War history here!
Thank you both for your service to our country!

  29. Thank you both for your service! God bless all our veterans! You look adorable in this outfit, Susan! I love the boots, and I really like the jeans turned up! I wouldn’t have thought of that and it looks so cute! The fall colors and scenery are gorgeous too!

  30. I can’t believe I finally found someone who truly understands what a classic capsule wardrobe for a woman in her sixties looks like! No ripped jeans or frilly little skirts in sizes worn 30 years ago. Your pieces make sense, having a classic style without being frumpy. I can’t wait to get started on my closet with your great suggestions ! I found you on Pinterest but where is the best place to follow you without missing posts?
    Thanks so much!
    Cyndy
